I think the ball idea came from Cinderella going to ball and people having a space where they are free to dress how they want and love who they want without judgement even if it's just for a night

And I think she meant it more like this:

than this:

Was there someone who was thinking otherwise?

No, Going to a Ball is a sophisticated way to say I am going to a dance party.

A party them jumpship peasants can't enter :gaycat:

It is a thing for the fans and I like it.

When Gaga calls the tours a "ball" she's referencing the1980's NYC drag balls, which were extensively documented in the 1991 documentary 'Paris is Burning'. She draws an immense amount of her persona and brand from this film, and has admitted so.

Thank you....I was waiting for someone to bring it up. Which is why it should stay imo. It's her thing now.

I like it but if it doesn't fit the next album title, then I'm ok with her dropping it, like say the title was Explicit Beauty, I don't know how I feel about The Explicit Beauty Ball

Ball

noun

1. A large, usually lavish, formal party featuring social dancing and sometimes given for a particular purpose, as to introduce debutantes or benefit a charitable organization.

2. Informal. a thoroughly good time: "Have a ball on your vacation!"

If it sounds good with the next tour I'd be glad for her to keep using it, if she used a different name I would probably be upset/nostalgic for a day then stop caring about it lol

Pacify Him

ARTPOP Ball does fit tho. Now I wished she placed a giant version in the center of the stage but I think that might cause accidents

I think the meaning all along was the dance gathering celebration kind of a ball and not the round bouncy kind.

It adds some consistency and is part of her identity she's cultivated for herself as a pop star (camp & 80's ball culture etc.).
