This is an "Appeal to tradition" argument: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_tradition Is what our ancestors did really relevant to the very different circumstances we face today regarding our food choices and lifestyles? We really have to look at our anatomy to get the best evidence for what we're optimized for eating, not what some humans chose to eat. Otherwise, thousands of years from now anthropologists might conclude that eating McDonald's is natural because humans in the 20th and 21st centuries used to eat a lot of it. If you give a baby a bunny rabbit and an apple, there is no doubt it will play with the rabbit and eat the apple – not the other way around. Eating meat is a LEARNED behavior coming from culture through the generations. In terms of instinct,s meat-eaters have fast enough reflexes to ambush or overtake a victim. Try catching a pig or chicken with your bare hands and see what happens.

Meat gives more energy per pound than plants. It wouldn't be/it has never been sustainable for humans to survive solely on plants because we'd need so much of it The amount of grain, water, fuel for animal production out stands ANY sustainability of plant production, because not only do you use water to keep an animal alive for several years, but you also have to use water to water plant feed to keep the animal alive for several years. (70% of grain grown in the US goes to livestock) SO many people can be fed if we used those plants to feed humans directly. http://michaelbluejay.com/veg/environment.html If you look at human evolution our ancient ancestors were able to thrive because of their ability to produce wheat and rice. (European and Asia) That's how their civilizations were able to grow powerful while others didn't: they were too busy struggling to find food while Europe/Asia had an abundance of it. That's why we are as progressed as we are today: we were able to focus on other things besides survival, and meat had very little to do with it. That's part of the reason we're sitting here with high tech devices right now while others are still in 'off-the-grid- tribes in the middle of nowhere with no electricity or any modern day devices. Also, many ancient humans avoided meat and had some of the best health records. The majority of Natives ate very little to no meat before whites invaded America. Choctaw, Mayan, Osage, Aztec, Pawnee, Zapotec, Mandans, Wichitas, Arikaras, Caddoans, Cherokee, Creek and Chicksaw lived largely vegan lifestyles. After all, Natives taught thievish Europeans how to crop the land that was eventually stolen from them, not how to kill animals.
En_Sabah_Nur 9,359
If it were me personally - I'd just wear Synthetic FUR myself! PETA does go WAYYYYYY too far though! ...And haven't evolutionary biologist concluded already that the human brain become more larger & more developed & more intelligent, once we started consuming meat?! User 352
I don't trust PETA completely. But what Gaga does is wrong. It's against the life, it's far away from to be wise. Her behaviour is like from zombies...isn't our behaviour like from zombies ? We are a persecuted mass of people...anguish.

kevinthesheep 2,947
I'm a vegan and skeptical of PETA, agree they're a little shady. Despite this, wearing fur is disgusting and so ridiculously unnecessary... and I can't imagine Gaga doesn't realise how deplorable the fur industry is. On the other hand, as a vegan, I could say this about her decision to wear leather, or eat animal products, or her decision to literally dress in the flesh of an enslaved creature. It seems contradictory that I still support Gaga because of all this, but I see nothing wrong with this protest - if anything, it may make her aware of what she is wearing (but like I said, I highly doubt she doesn't realise). Mixed thoughts.
