Unlike others I'm not going to judge how "messy" or not this album is until it drops. Some of you all much have short term memory, because I remember everyone around here and every pop forum talking about how messy Beyonce was being for not dropping her album and talking trash about Grown Woman from her H&M ad.

She was doing the Superbowl and she did The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour without dropping a new album and everyone was making jokes about how her album was never coming and all that.

Then she dropped one of the biggest releases of the year and everyone was talking about how much of a genius she was. I've liked the music released so far, so I'll just wait and see what the go is before I start running my mouth.

Expose them, queen :gaycat:

it wasn't laaaahv

Please, not you Didy :crossed:

What am I doing wrong? I understand that many fans were disappointed by the music she released, but that's nothing to complain about in the way people are complaining about ANTI. Disliking music does not equal an era being a disaster. The only other reason people have for dismissing the era is because she's not as commercially successful as she used to be (what did you expect with these songs) or that the music isn't coming fast enough, meaning that they don't care about whether or not Rihanna's actually satisfied, which leads me to the conclusion that they're not genuinely interested in her.

Bambino

Mess :smh: Look at the way she says it as if she is challenging or teasing someone with the delay of her album. If anything it's your fans that you're challenging. Not cute, unless she's up to something, she should just explain what's up with her album or just say "soon" with less attitude :toofunny:

Well, I explained that didn't I :emma:

I mean, Gaga said it herself (through Emma in 2013): if you're only here for success she doesn't even consider you as a fan. Just extending that a bit in this context.

Well, she did though. She released Bow Down/I Been On in March and then there were of course Grown Woman and Standing on the Sun. After that she didn't say a word about the album and everyone started speculating about what was going wrong (basically exactly like Rihanna's era so far). Her tour was just going with no new music but Grown Woman, which everyone ridiculed (until they saw the tour), so no, if you remember correctly, this forum was a mess and everyone was dissing her to no end.

Rihanna on the other hand actually does talk about her album very passionately and we know what her intent is (running counter to what people usually expect of her: a bunch of hits) and that she's taking her time so even though I understand where the fire is coming from, it still doesn't justify people dismissing this era as an absolute failure when the only thing going wrong is that the fans have to wait a bit more.

Bow Down was a Soundcloud buzz track (as opposed to an official single), and I said in my first post that GW and SOTS and what happened was a mess, so I know. During that whole period I was here, in the Beyhive forum and followed it in atrl, so yes, I remember what a mess it was and the lashings.

In my opinion it is different than R8 because Rihanna has been everywhere; as if she had something to promote but she doesn't. Beyoncé, other than H&M and the Super Bowl didn't do much (I know that was supposed to be the kick off of everything but it was scrapped) And yeah, she may be passionate and all, and may want to do something different which I totally respect, but doing 500 different projects and photo shoots instead of the album that was officially kicked off almost a year ago, feels like she doesn't care. So promoting a sock collection instead of her music pisses fans off. That's what I meant. People are dismissing it not because of the music (well, they are weary since chart wise they could have done better) but because they are tired of what has been going on. Maybe if she hadn't started the roll out and hyping things so early this wouldn't have happened. So yeah, people are tired of waiting, but at the same time this hasn't been a "normal" wait.

Agreed. But how does that make this era a disaster when we're obviously not even halfway through?
