VOLANTIS 16,413
The title should be "Rihanna confirms Lady Gaga on ANTI" I'll lift you 3 inches off the ground and drag you to a meter and a half

Bebe 17,106
Unlike others I'm not going to judge how "messy" or not this album is until it drops. Some of you all much have short term memory, because I remember everyone around here and every pop forum talking about how messy Beyonce was being for not dropping her album and talking trash about Grown Woman from her H&M ad. She was doing the Superbowl and she did The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour without dropping a new album and everyone was making jokes about how her album was never coming and all that. Then she dropped one of the biggest releases of the year and everyone was talking about how much of a genius she was. I've liked the music released so far, so I'll just wait and see what the go is before I start running my mouth.

But there are a couple of differences in the situations that make Rihanna more of a dragging target imo. Like, for Beyoncé we didn't know anything at all. There were the rumors of her shooting videos and a couple of dancer insider info but that was it, and even then nobody believed it much. The only thing that was messy was the Grown Woman/ Standing on the Sun "we are going to release it wait we're not" episode. Also when her manager blabbed about the Super Bowl. People were pissed but that was about it. Rihanna announced 45S as the start of the era, said that the album was coming soon, then the BBMH and AO and Tidal messes, then the scrapped album, then the writing camps well into the back half of the year, all of the supposed release dates, the ANTI reveal event, more writing camps, the Samsung deal, more release dates that never happened and then the tour. And still nothing after all of this and almost it more than a year later. I don't know about the music, but this is way more messy than Bey who will love me when the night is over

We all knew that Beyoncé scrapped her entire album, just like we know Rihanna scrapped the concept that belonged to the album she was hyping in 2014. So in reality, everything that happened in 2015 is perfectly normal, and we should even be happy that we got three singles, two extra songs (for the soundtrack), lots of magazine shoots, interviews and snippets out of it. That's how I see it. The only thing that's messy is that people aren't patient. Albums take time, even when you're not writing the songs from the ground up. The things we got so far were of high quality so I really don't understand why a true fan should complain. All complaints are either about promo or commercial performance and just like in this fanbase, I think it's safe to say that those complaints are just products of expectations that don't belong to the era itself, which means that the era is by no means a mess (yet). Beyoncé scrapped her album, yes, but she never gave false starts to the era and announced stuff to then just leave it hanging. The situations are similar in that both albums were scrapped who knows how many times and delayed, but Rihanna started rolling it out and kind of backtracked. Beyoncé kept it on the down low and dropped it all at once, when she was sure of herself. Which I'm not saying was a better way of handling it lmao but still I would say this is why people are impatient and complaining, which seems pretty normal to me. There's also her attitude, like she couldn't give two shits about her music, that I think adds more fuel to the fire. who will love me when the night is over

eifulien 2,969
To be honest, everyone's patience is wearing thin, but I am hopeful that the waiting will be worth it and that we will really receive an excellent album. I hope she saved some of the recorded material and combined it with the new one. She released too many snippets and I hope she did justice to the songs we heard. Her campaign with the diaRy is a bit too much for me at this point, but if she hadn't announced earlier the album, I would've been 1000 times more hyped about the rooms and the clues and keys that fans get in real life. So I agree with most of you that these unpredicted changes seriously distorted the promotion but who knows about the album. We may as well be in for the biggest treat from RiRi yet. To be honest if we need to compare ANTI to ARTPOP and BEYONCÉ (what's with everyone capitalising the names?) ANTI sits exactly between both. ARTPOP - revealed too early, a lot of time went under development, and the album was long due, and really anticipated, but turn out Gaga was rushed out to do everything surrounding it, so maybe she needed more time but it was too late to pull the plug. BEYONCÉ - no need to explain, it took everyone by storm, came out 15 days before the year's end and became the album of the year. ANTI - maybe RiRi was really heading for an "ARTPOP" but managed to pause the era and make revisions, so hopefully the final thing is good, even without charting success. The only thing they cared about at the time was that she was having a baby. Reading the article u linked me to, it seems like she was trying to make a more radio friendly album like Sasha Fierce, and then decided not to go that route. There's also her attitude, like she couldn't give two shits about her music, that I think adds more fuel to the fire. Well, she did though. She released Bow Down/I Been On in March and then there were of course Grown Woman and Standing on the Sun. After that she didn't say a word about the album and everyone started speculating about what was going wrong (basically exactly like Rihanna's era so far). Her tour was just going with no new music but Grown Woman, which everyone ridiculed (until they saw the tour), so no, if you remember correctly, this forum was a mess and everyone was dissing her to no end. Rihanna on the other hand actually does talk about her album very passionately and we know what her intent is (running counter to what people usually expect of her: a bunch of hits) and that she's taking her time so even though I understand where the fire is coming from, it still doesn't justify people dismissing this era as an absolute failure when the only thing going wrong is that the fans have to wait a bit more.
