Spectre Theme Song

  1. 1. Should Lana Del Rey have been chosen as the singer of the 'Spectre' theme song, or was Sam Smith the right choice?

    • Sam Smith, his voice makes me weep.

    • Lana Del Rey, she was born to sing a James Bond theme song

    • Neither of them.

This thread title is stupid clickbait. She never said she was awaiting or expecting it. She just hypothetically said that she would've because she's a fan of Bond music, it's that simple. Nothing from her short statement regarding the issue said she felt entitled to record the song, stop being annoying on purpose.

She would be perfect for the theme. Sam also could've done a good song as he has the voice for it, but he didn't nail it.

What part of her quote said that she was expecting someone to ask her? She was asked about it by the interviewer and said she would take the job if she was ever asked. Look beyond the title for once. Read the facts before you post and make a fool of yourselves.

you're always so negative in all posts. Mine, other peoples. Being positive would make you're life so much better. This isn't click bait, it's me reporting on articles i've read. IF they took things out of context, that's on them.

You put an artist's quote out of context on purpose to make them look desperate and generally bad, so don't talk to me about negativity. This should be considered flamebait.

The article stated "Lana Del Rey was ready to anoint herself the next 007 crooner, according to an NME interview with the singer."

I believe" awaiting" and "ready to anoint herself the next 007 crooner" are pretty much the same thing.

No. Awaiting infers that she was expecting she would be the number one choice as if she was entitled to it more than anyone else, when really she just said she would've been happy to do a song for the movie had she been asked.

Plus your ridiculous OP that even furthered that idea: "According to Lana Del Rey's interview with NME, she was fully awaiting being the chosen one to sing the next James Bond theme song. However, that moment never came". You're clearly trying to reinforce that false claim, and by doing so you have misled several users in this discussion. You knew what you were doing.

Not to mention that "anoint" quote doesn't even come from the source you linked to in the OP. You're a disaster.

Wow a gif. Very mature and interesting point. Though it's the type of response I'd expect from someone like you.

Loling at the analphabet thread opener.

"I would have done it if asked" somehow equals "I WAS AWAITING TO DO IT"

Sam's song grew on me, but ultimately, he's not the right artist for this. Lana practically is a Bond girl, everything about her look and music scream Bond theme. I can't believe there was this obvious choice right under the movie maker's eyes and they just didn't take it. It seems like they only want artists who sell millions upon millions and have #1's to do these themes now, so superficial. Despite not being the bestselling, Lana's still relevant and she'll probably be more relevant than Sam when he releases his follow up and fades into obscurity. Some of these big names they hire may be big now, but it doesn't mean they'll be around forever, especially in nowadays fickle pop world. Casting a one album wonder for such a big gig could look bad in years to come. Surely it shouldn't matter how well known the artist is, but rather if they can handle the theme well?

Because her music fits with the whole Bond asthetic. It was natural that she expected to be offered the chance when she fits the theme so well. I believe she's only ever had 2 songs in movies and only one of them got the slightest bit of notice taken of it. She's said it's her dream to write for film one day, so I can see why she wants to soundtrack more of her music. It's not about not giving others a chance, it's about furthering a potential career.

Her music may not appeal to you, but that doesn't make it dull. It is very lyrically poetic and rich with stunningly majestic instrumentals and hypnotising vocals. So much of her music fits perfectly with the Bond theme. Million Dollar Man is a Bond theme defined. Other potential candidates are Shades Of Cool, Honeymoon, Salvatore, 24 and Swan Song. Her whole asthetic is of a Bond girl. She looks like the kind of woman Bond would sleep with. She sings like a jazz singer from the days of the first Bond films. Marilyn Monroe femme fatale stuff. She should have been the first choice for a Bond theme since she

That's why the tone of the interview  sounded very conceited...that's not the mentality ANY musician should have. Expectations lead to disappointments. I can see why she may want to do more movie participation but it's not her place to semi "suggest" she would've  been a better fit for Bond...

You can't be in everything...
