You wouldn't have gotten dragged for calling Katy a terrible singer, because MOST members here would agree to that, it's rather an obvious fact. But would you have called Katy a horrid singer on a Katy Perry forum? AHS's performance is not universally acclaimed, but it is recognized by fans and critics alike. Hence, it is not a widespread common opinion that it's a terrible show, and hence it would be inappropriate to deem their nomination 'bullshit'. I've been so preoccupied with school that I can't devote much of my time to watching tv (until recently). I've DVR'd all episodes and am thinking this weekend of finally sitting down and watching them all in one take. I think that's a great way to really absorb the material. Keeping this in mind that I really can't judge, but again, from what little I've seen, the acting seems to be quite good. And people like Angela Bassett and Katy Bates are known for being quality actors. That and the aesthetics seem like a lot of dark fun, so I'm looking forward to giving the season my full attention. It's been all I can do not to have friends spill all the details to me. Looking forward to actually joining in conversations now. Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. So you're saying I should just bow down to whatever status quo there is? I won't do that. I propose the opposite: for people to stop pretending like anything anyone is writing here has some kind of bearing on what actually goes on anywhere in the world and to deal with different opinions, especially from people who are perfectly aware (and have been vocal about this) that theirs is completely irrelevant and relative. I'm not saying people are blindly stanning I think AHS fans (who love the show regardless of Gaga's presence in it) are just taking advantage of the fact that she is in it and the show's widely discussed now to shoot down everyone who's negative about it. It's been going on for weeks now in every thread about it. But no, I won't just add "but congrats" at the end of my post when I don't mean it. It's incredibly foolish to see people favoring that as more genuine and praiseworthy than an uncensored, "genuine" and "passionate" expression of disappointment.
