Troy Carter talks about split with Gaga. "It was disheartening"

Whispering

He really didn't say much here. He's basically praising Gaga for being talented and a hard worker and saying that he has realized that he is one of those people who does best with starting artists out. Troy doesn't have the experience or the know how to maintain artists over a long period of time. Gaga was at the point that she needed someone experienced and/or dedicated to the long term vision and he wasn't that person.

Gaga is in a much better place now with Bobby and Live Nation Management.

I think he's very ambiguous about it in this interview but you can sort of make out what the problem was, and I think it was a very simple problem that carried very big implications: Troy says that Gaga wanted to "compete on the highest levels". Lady Gaga is not an easy brand, she's known for being extreme, creative, original, etc. Which is not easy to produce or sell. Troy is a businessman and he did exactly what Gaga wanted: he helped her become the biggest popstar in the world, which is an extremely hard job.

At some point though, Gaga didn't want to play the game anymore. She felt tired, overworked, and lost in an unfair competition that didn't bring her the joy she expected. And that's when their relationship broke, because they were both taking different paths. Troy kept pushing her to be the "megastar" that Gaga had once wanted to be, but Gaga was sick of it. And neither of them was wise enough to see this break in their objectives till it was too late. Troy was lost because he didn't know what to do once Gaga had become this big (him being an accelerator and all that), and Gaga was lost because she entered a career crisis where she didn't know if she even wanted to do this anymore

It was Troy's fault for not seeing what Gaga was going through and what her objectives were, and it was also Gaga's fault for not being able to take a stand and be clear about her change of hearts.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head here.

Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax."

The only disheartening thing Troy is that you (1) never cared about her when she was injured and (2) were trying so hard to make money off her and (3) sold Haus Labs under her nose... don't play me sis

(1) Receipts?

(2) Receipts?

(3) Receipts?

You have no idea what went on behind the scenes, in fact nobody does because it's been so tight-lipped. We all know Gaga can be difficult to work with as well, so let's not make assumptions based off what you see as a distanced fan who has no clue what goes on in her personal, professional relationships.

Born Brave

Yeah yeah yeah. blah blah blah.. fake praise from a fake person who only cares about money. He's doing the politically correct thing to keep his posture in the industry. He ****ed her and he knows it, so why bring attention to his wrong doing by saying something that could be perceived as negative and fuel a fire that would burn him alive. He played nice because it was beneficial to. Don't forget, it's all about money with these people like him and Rob. Rob talks nice about Gaga then leaks her unreleased stuff to put salt in the wound which was inflicted by a lawsuit he brought upon her... if someone is willing to sue someone for millions (justly or not) do you really think they have GENUINELY nice things to say about them?  Don't drink the koolaid people.

I actually like Troy.

There are obviously tons of things we don't know, but if he would really not care about Gaga at all, he wouldn't have been with her for 5 years, you don't spend that much time working closely together with a person you don't care for. With Gaga saying, that he sold a company while she was recovering, that must've been POPwater, since they used pictures of Gagas Awards posted by Natalie, yet when the product launched, Gaga wasn't even something they talked about. It must've been because it sold poorly, and it would've given Gaga a bad name to have her product flopping.

In the end, he and Gaga did a great job. I hope they will talk about everything in like 10 years and go over everything, cause they say that times supposed to heal you but she ain't done much healing.

No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. It's good to see he isn't being spiteful about their relationship, I personally think Gaga used him as a scapegoat because of ARTPOP being a complete mess.

Listen what he says. He is a good accelerator and when his mission is complete then there is kind of a dead end on his side.  It can not continue to grow forever. He did not understand how it should go further and started to invest his resources in other things.

Gaga was burned out and also did not know why he leaves her alone and didn't invest so much like before.

There you have the misery with ARTPOP:

This guy is amazing. He is incredibly insightful about what exactly happened between him and Gaga. And the fact that he talks so highly of her makes me think he's mature and professional. No wonder him and Gaga worked so well together back in the day.

I'm sure they were absolutely magic together pre-2013.

I just... I'm curious as to what happened to cause the split. Obviously it's a lot more personal than what is given out in paper, as they both probably really respect each other. Also considering that Gaga was just recovering from an incredibly rough patch, and went into a relatively severe one right after, so it might be much more than "it was Troy's fault", or even "it was Gaga's fault".

Very good point. After what Gaga's said about her feelings a few years back, this makes a lot of sense.

Why do I feel that Troy knows Gaga will come back so hard next era ( red one, Dianne , Ron, Nile , Bobby ) so he better praise her before so it doesn't look so bad on him. I will never forget that night Gaga cried during YouTube award. He didn't even visit her in hospital. All he wants is $$$ from her. Gaga said b4 that for some ppl 200 millions is not enuf they want 500 millions!!!!!

im glad that she let those ppl go cuz that's toxic.

I feel like he's more interested in being a business mogul rather than just a manager. He comes off as someone who wants to be the head of an empire, not a day-to-day guy. Maybe this is why they parted ways. Like, I can't see Troy being at her side like Bobby's been doing. Troy has many business ventures, so I don't think he really had the time to see about her like Gaga needed, maybe it came off as him not caring about her in Gaga's eyes, especially if he wasn't able to be there as everything was falling apart.
