RAMROD 109,406 Posted December 7, 2015 Share Posted December 7, 2015 I remember I was very angry when Marshall Mathers LP didn't win Album Of The Year cos they gave it to Steely Dan's Two Against Nature on 2001 Grammy Awards. And today, although I understood why, I still think Marshall Mathers LP were more deserving, especially Steely won because back then Grammy academy were trying to fight the idea of album from being obsolete with rise of Napster and other peer to peer download where people can illegally download songs they wanted. And Steely are known as album musician, plus many voters back then are seniors, just about the same age as the people in Steely Dan or older. So they were more favorable. That and when Macklemore won over Kendrick are the only dissatisfaction I had. And though I love love love Beyoncé, I am not complaining Beck won, cos that album is brilliant, too! The perfect example of the Grammys, as Randall Jones once put it "choosing familiarity over risk." 2003 - Xtina not getting nominated for Stripped in AOTY category and Eminem losing out to Norah Jones in the same category. See above example. 2008 - Amy Winehouse losing out to Herbie Hancock in AOTY category. She won everything except the crowning glory in one of the most random, unknown AOTY wins in history. 2010 - Gaga losing out on AOTY for The Fame. 2011 - Gaga not gets noms for Bad Romance in Song or Record Of The Year. 2012 - Gaga winning nothing for BTW. 2013 - Lana getting no noms for Born To Die. Bloody critics just can't nominate albums that got mixed reception. 2014 - Lana not winning any of her noms and Gaga not getting nominated for anything to do with ARTPOP. 2015 - Sia not winning anything for Chandelier, Lana not getting any noms for Ultraviolence, Say Something winning over several good contenders in Best Duo/Group Pop Performance, Something Bad not winning in the Best Duo/Group Country Performance.
