Wonderful interview and I love his outlook on everything. He's such a nice guy- couldn't ask for a better manager for Gaga!

Again, ask any person (Not Gaga stans but any random pop culture consumer) you know what he/she thinks about Gaga, the answer will remain the same since 2011.

Actually a number of coworkers, friends, and family members approached me after her Oscars performance and were commenting on how they "had no idea she could sing so well!" and since then I've also heard a number of them reference that performance when she's brought up.

(EDIT: I will admit though that I have talked to a lot of people, some of which claimed to be into Jazz, who didn't know Gaga had put out a Jazz album with Tony)

Also, if you look at comments on articles, videos, Reddit, etc. about Gaga they are totally way more positive and focused on her talent nowadays. People have made threads here about things posted on Reddit about Gaga and we've noticed the general reaction/response is very different than it was years ago.

That being said, of course there are still the people out there who judge Gaga ignorantly. But to say "any random pop culture consumer" would be more likely to describe Gaga a la 2011 than something different is a little unfounded and merely an assumption. And it's an assumption that isn't verified by other observations.

(EDIT: ALSO wasn't this most recent season of AHS the most watched thus far? People have been talking a lot about Gaga as the Countess. She's definitely known for more than the meat dress. I actually hear people talk about the meat dress LESS than her recent achievements.)

Well, that's probably true.

It's true that people know who Lady Gaga is mostly because of her gimmicks but she still has her signature hits that everyone, back in the day, loved and found catchy. Poker Face, Just Dance, Bad Romance, Alejandro. Every song she released was destined to be a hit which further proves her dominance back then.

Those are the songs that were definitely considered mainstream and her gimmicks only helped her popularity (and not in a bad way at all considering she had a 240m grossing tour with The Monster Ball). That was the peak of her career- Gaga was definitely trendy during those days and it's ridiculous that some people compare that kind of mainstream success with an Oscars performance that basically just made celebrities tweet how much they loved it and some decent media coverage.

I think the pinnacle of her career (business wise) was that Lady Gaga was everywhere. And you know what? I don't need to prove it. Born This Way's hype and first week sales (both the album and single) prove it. Then, it went downhill which is okay after all!

Regarding your last sentence, I actually agree with you. When I said I want Bobby to aim high commercially, I don't want him to go back and promote the gimmicks (as Troy probably focused on), I want him to promote Gaga's vision. Will it appeal to everyone? I don't know but I want and hope to believe it will because I truly believe Gaga can re-invent herself in the pop scene with music that SHE wants to release.

To sum this up, I believe Gaga can be trendy again. I believe she can set a new trend. And that for me, would be her real comeback in the world.

Even if she won't, I'll still love her and recognize her incredible talent. I've brought this up because this topic is about Bobby.

Ah, when you put it this way I see where you're coming from and I agree to a large extent. I think we're moving towards that setting of a new trend, and I think the Oscars performance was really the beginning. The beginning of Gaga trending as a truly talented artist instead of a "gimmick" that can make a catchy tune.
