According to Newsday, Maraj — a Long Island resident who recently got married — “was arraigned Thursday on first-degree rape and first-degree course of s-xual conduct against a child, according to online court and jail records.” Sources connected to the arraignment claim the child in question is 12 years old. Maraj was released on bail (set at $100,000) from East Meadow’s Nassau County jail on Thursday. This is how it works in the US Judicial system. Bail is available in the majority of cases. It is not surprising of shocking that bail was available in this case. Ok.. but I don't really see how you can throw someone in jail for first degree rape and s-xual conduct with a child if you don't already have sufficient proof.
