She's certainly not saying that she hates ARTPOP, she's expressed numerous times that she absolutely adores ARTPOP, in my opinion, it's this album—as of now—that truly defines her as "Lady Gaga": using music as her form of artistic media to express her thoughts into the world.

I think what she means by this quote is that she just didn't want to work on the piano, and now looking back on the album. She was heavily using beats (i.e. Swine), and didn't use the piano as often (i.e. Dope and Gypsy).

Well Gaga is smart and self aware, more so now than ever. Obviously she's aware that the album was a disappointment and not anywhere close to what she's capable of, as was her entite artistic output during that period. It doesn't mean there's nothing of value there but the music she was making back then was a way of her escaping her troubles through artifice, and simulatenously making the music she thought her fans and the public wanted and expected from her at the time. Now she's ready to get real again and right meaningful ****. Can't wait.

I think it's probably a mixture of things. From this quote you can only conclude that she had to make an electronic heavy album and rely on producers because she was artistically frustrated. That of course makes it an album that is not a true artistic expression, but at the same time she definitely used ARTPOP as a channel for her frustrations anyway.

So I think she loves it as something that kept her going when really she could've just given up. It's just sad that the actual ARTPOP era made it even worse, so we should all be very thankful that she didn't just throw in the towel in December 2013.

I doubt she regrets You and I :P

I certainly hope not as ARTPOP is a beautiful album that Gaga has expressed her love for countless times in the past. I was a bit confused when I read that quote too but I don't believe it was her intention to degrade ARTPOP in any way. Its kind of an interesting paradox because it seems like ARTPOP is the album where she was most controlled and restrained yet it was also her way of expressing the pain she felt due to it. I think she loves the album itself and all that it stands for but she is maybe still angry over the fact that its full potential was never awakened due to the neglect of the people around her.

Ehm, she wrote the lyrics and co-produced every song. But i think she had maybe to narrow down her creativity for release a trendy album, also she had not a choice because she could'nt play the piano.

What I'm saying is she sacrificed her creativity for the sake of an album that would please the label. When she first started talking about the album, it was this whole "decay of a pop star" and "Disney princess high" trend. The label could've said "We're not releasing this. You need to rework these songs"

No, she doesn't hate the album itself. Maybe she was disappointed with the management of the era and the bad outcome they got but I'm sure she loves the album.

Remember this day and these images?

I think they speak volumes about ARTPOP. I remember around this time she said the record company was treating her like a cash cow.

I think her heart wasn't in it.
