But the difference is that in both those places, she opposed the status quo multiple times, vocally and explicitly. In Israel she didn't say a word. She's not a heartless c-nt or that, but it's just one example of her political selectivity that deserves a comment imo. Idc if she said anything as long as it's don't demonizing Israel or Jewish people. Not performing there would be just childish when she also performed in UAE or Turkey. And nobody mocked her for performing in a country (UAE) where you can get killed for being gay Did she say something there? I don't know. Or did she say anything about Kurds in Turkey? Romani in Europe?

I mean, I was probably more upset that she performed Imagine at Azerbaijan and got paid millions for it, because that's really not even taking your show to a country, it's just showing up and asking for money, contributing to an event that was already widely criticized. Again, I'm not demanding she makes politically challenging statements but consistency would be nice.

But what exactly have Israeli fans to do with? Well she was the first artist who didn't cancel the concert literally right after bombings stopped, it wasn't even sure if it's for real and she later retweeted jewish articles who were praising her for "lifting the spirit of Israelis post war", which after 2200 dead of which 500 were children - made her look like a heartless b---h. But I don't want to think like that of her. I'm just saying how others may see it. But this is all off topic so I won't continue. And I'm not just talking about this, she's also one of the celebrities that chooses to refrain from making statements about other important political issues, including the Israel/Palestine conflict which was in full rage when she performed there, while other performers cancelled their shows to show support of the message she's pretending to promote now. It's that kind of selectivity that I can't help but be annoyed by. You can think whatever you want about it but that doesn't make it not the reality honey. Sorry if you don't like it I guess?? I don't think it's wrong to criticize Gaga for this, she's made her stance very clear that she wants to be involved in public and international social issues/politics. Unless her tweets are extremely controlled by her label then I can understand. But other than that, it doesn't really take a lot to tweet a couple of words for other tragedies or voice your thoughts as a "spokesperson for love and equality". She already does her part via the Born This Way foundation for LGBT youth. You don't have to be involved in every tragedy to make a commentary on it. She does enough for the world. Edit: Wish I hadn't written this 'cause I've been gently but ruthlessly schooled on a future page. Great discussion though, I recommend it. You are seemingly forever turned up to 11 over the most innocuous things. Gaga is not superwoman or this all-knowing perfect deity. Nit-picking this non-controversial statement is so ridiculous. Expecting her, a fairly young woman whose primary occupation is a musician/actress to be so well versed in everything political and have a heavily nuanced opinion on all current events is being unrealistic. You're setting yourself up to get disappointed if you think otherwise. She's not a talking head pundit on CNN.

Westerners will feel for Paris more than Beirut, for better or worse. We can encourage people to broaden their horizons by discussing it, but not by being... abrasive. Even as a Lebanese I feel more for Paris than Beirut. If we don't care, why should anyone else in the world? We're used to this **** and the different denominations here want to kill each other anyway. Not going to lie it made most of my family happy that it pissed off Hezbollah and put them in their place. They constantly threaten to kill all of us all the time, waving their guns in our faces every time there's a conflict. Edited just now by LebaneseDude.
