It sounds like a phone recording, it ruined EVERYTHING, it makes it unlistenable for me. All the instruments, esp. her voice and the drums sound like they're coming from a laptop. It's baffling, I really don't get why she chose to do it like this 'cause it undoubtedly is intentional.

I don't know. It's just a major disappointment to me 'cause I was calling it one of my favorite Gaga songs when we could hear the LQ versions. Little that I know that the final mix would sound equally LQ Anyone who somehow hasn't discovered how disastrous this mix is: switch between TIHTY and Brown Eyes/Speechless/Yoü and I and hear the difference.

well. gaga said she hated the mix too. but diane put the song out anyway. she said it took long because gaga wanted to re record everything and remaster it completely but at the end there was no change

I don't think it's particularly great song of hers. I've only listened to it about 5 times and it never grabbed me. I think it's emotionally anticlimactic for a song about such a personal and harrowing topic. I think the verses are plodding and uninspired and the chorus is underwhelming. Her vocal delivery is too straightforward for such a slow and lyrically predictable song, though the harmonies and layering added some interest. It serves its purpose well though, which is probably why it was nominated for an Oscar, but it's not particularly listenable on its own.

Maybe I'll give it another chance in the future, but I'm not here for the melodies. It's sad, because I do tend to like baroque pop songs about deep issues.

@Didymus stated it perfectly. At least my thoughts. I even like her Dope style like voice but not here. I don't know. The message and such is awesome but... This about it.

I really don't like it. It sounds like an unfinished song. And I don't like her style of vocals. It's like she's tried too hard to make her vocals sound sad and meaningful. She is already great at expressing emotion in her singing so she doesn't need to resort to that whiney sort of warbling style. 

Also, it sounds dated. It doesn't sound like a modern song. It sounds like something that should have been out in the 90's as a film soundtrack.

I took it that way the first time I listened to it too- reminded me of this:

aimed at the people trying to "help" but they just come off as ignorant

 

but now I see it being told to someone who's saying to "get over it" "it's in the past just move on" sorta thing

There are some people in this thread who literally said nothing positive about the song.
