It was an interview about how stupid social media had become and how someone can just post their ass on Instagram and become famous, an obvious reference to Kim (esp. at the time) though not explicitly named. It's how she explained her DWUW cover art a few times in radio interviews. It tied in nicely with her ludicrous statements about how she was foie gras and not french fries.

I hated that too, though. For everyone thinking I'm just hating on her for no reason: I just miss the time she was able to mix the money with the art. Ever since 2010 it's been all about the art, manifested to an unbearable and hypocritical degree during ARTPOP and lately it feels like it's no art and all celebrity. I just miss some balance and I don't think I'm being super irrational for saying that since her constant ambivalence is obvious to everyone who's not a blind stan.

I agree with you by the way. I personally think she was just being fake but Kylie believed her for some reason. I think Gaga can't really stand her deep inside. And if she does really believe Kylie should continue doing what she's been doing, then I'm pretty sad because that's not what she's been preaching throughout the entire ARTPOP era

Oh, okay.  For a minute there I thought there was some kind of interview or an article with a famous publication where Gaga threw shade at Kim directly or indirectly and I was thinking how I could have possibly missed it here.

On Topic:  I think people in this forum take everything too seriously.  Who cares if Gaga praised Kylie?  If you can't stand Kylie Jenner, then how would Gaga's praise affect you?? 

Gaga can do what she wants and she can retract what she says whenever she wants.  As people we have the prerogative to change our minds as we see fit.  If that will cause eyebrows to raise, so be it!  You can't please everyone so who cares what people think?  I mean, if Gaga does something people come for her and if she doesn't do something, other people come for her so that's why it's best if she does whatever she wants, IMO.

Thank you. I was just tired of the forum dynamics, but I came back because now I'm tired of everything else and I'm just using this as a distraction until I spontaneously combust.

I don't agree since if this is fake, she's been fake ever since 2014 and I don't think that's accurate. Clearly something real changed during that year and I just don't like it because she doesn't have the balls to admit that most of her previous statements don't apply anymore. And for all the people who want to quote me saying: "But why does she need to explain herself when change is so natural?" I get your point but Gaga elevated herself continuously by gently calling out everyone who wasn't a genuine artist, so in that context it doesn't apply imo. She has some explaining to do about a lot of things and she has to know it. If she would just have the guts to say: "You know what, all that stuff I said wasn't really truthful" etc. I would respect her 1000x more.

My timeline:

Early 2014: "**** you pop music!" + an interview in which she both criticized and defended major enterprises, which was confusing and basically hollow but still the most interesting interview she did in years. This interview, for me, just embodies the paradoxical nature of this entire period. She proclaimed proudly that she would go back to singing in bars if she would ever have to change herself while admitting a few minutes later that she has several finished music albums that she doesn't wanna release because she loathes the music industry and what they'd do with it.

Then there was of course G.U.Y. which proclaimed the image of a new career phase in which she would take on the industry and rebuild it entirely to suit her own purposes, based on the fundamental virtues of peace and love.

And then she sang covers all through 2014 and 2015, dressing down in outfits that basically any celebrity could've worn. She asked for a role in AHS (something she said she'd never do a few years back), she started playing around with the idea of creating a pet food/clothing line (do I even need to comment on that), boasted of her multi-million dollar mansion (which contradicts several earlier cornerstone statements) on Instagram, couldn't explain to Howard Stern why she moved to L.A., a place she said she couldn't stand, blurted out she loved Hollywood on stage, took back her entire earlier persona by saying she was just a depressed girl who created "Lady Gaga" to cope with life (negating nearly all of her artistic statements that made her notorious), started to care about what the world thought of her (even implying that she had to change her own music because of it),...

I mean, it's really just a mystery to me. She made G.U.Y. as a symbol of her future and then she basically just has the most non-artistic period we ever had in which she nearly systematically contradicted herself every turn. You'd almost be convinced to believe she's doing it on purpose
