Lady Gaga will kick off 2016 with a splashy new cover of V Magazine, whose January issue she will also guest edit, according to E! online.

The 29 year-old singer and star of TV's American Horror Story: Hotel has enlisted the help of fashion photography stalwarts Nick Knight, Steven Klein and the award-winning Dutch team Inez and Vinoodh for the issue. She told the magazine:

"I feel like we all share an appetite for living a life of passion and creativity…it's like we all found our immortality through art and fashion…we share that deep spiritual place. These are people who have kept and protected me over the years, because they wanted me to survive…that's part of the message of this issue: we have to carry each other through the decades and take care of one another and honor each other's work."

V Magazine's editor in chief Stephen Gan had this to say of the chameleon-like performer, who told Billboard in October that she "suffered through depression and anxiety my entire life": "She's part musician, part notorious style setter, and part opinionated editor with strong convictions. Over the past six years of knowing each other, Lady Gaga and I often talk about her editing an issue of V.

"After all," he added, "she had been on the cover four times."

It is already sounding so potentially iconic

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I'm still rooting with the fact she'll talk about it...

I still don't think Gaga would do that kind of thing without having something to promote coming...

Albums aren't a book report, you don't hammer out great albums in a few months, great albums take years to lay down.

TFM took 4 months to record. Born This Way took 11 months.  :stalkga::stalkga:

Oh please, like writing an album is so easy. You make it sound like going grocery shopping.

TFM was recorded in 4 months. BTW was recorded in 11 months. Arguably her two best albums
