Adele is the one. She’s here to catapult music back to its rightful preeminence in the entertainment world. Whether she becomes our Muhammad Ali or Tiger Woods or Bobby Fischer is yet to be determined, but she clearly is the most important person in music. For now, that’s definitely good enough. In a world of homogenized Top 40, where Katy Perry and Rihanna soundalikes dominate a boring, unimaginative landscape, Adele is a breath of fresh air with a powerful voice and a potent point of view. And the mere fact that 25’s first single, “Hello,” shot to #1 instantly in BOTH sales and research shows that there is a profound desire for something completely different.
