wow, that's so NOT what I said. I never said it should be free, only that nowadays most people (myself included) prefer to pay for streaming than buying entire albums and then listen to it like, 3 times and never again. and pile up trash.

I obviously support paying for music but It's undeniable that she will be losing thousands of listeners through streaming (myself included).

Oh sorry, I misinterpteted your post. So yeah, I agree :)

Though what I said still aplyes in general.

I'm glad you got it!

And I support everything you said as well. I buy all my favorite albums and I have the same attitude towards cheap people! I can't stand illegal downloads.

Don't worry, you can count on me not to be a hypocrite in this situation. Adele is now just as bad as Taylor for doing this. These type of artists really need to wake up and realise that streaming is the ultimate promotional tool and their sales really won't suffer much because of it. The way I see it is, these artists must feel really insecure about their albums if they feel the need to not make it available for free listens. Because they're afraid the public will listen to it for free, think it's terrible and not buy it. Unlike the old days where people bought albums pretty much blindly, meaning you could easily fool them into thinking they were buying quality based on the singles. If you genuinely think your album is awesome, you won't feel the need to hide it away from those who haven't paid for it. It's no secret that Adele has been concerned about how the public will recieve the album and this is clearly the manifestation of that. What gets to me is that most of the artists who are taking this stand are the ones who are already massively famous and have never had to worry about sales. Surely, if anything, this stand should be taken by those who can't sell because they're frustrated about working hard but not getting the money for it? This is the downside of becoming ridiculously rich all of a sudden - you start taking people to task for doing you out of ten pence. Ironic, much?

I really like Adele and her music, but I 100% agree with you on this!

Adele likely said "do what ever you think is best" and left this up to her management team. It's not like it's NEVER going to streaming. It's the week of release we are talking about. It has NOTHING to do with money from Adele's point of view. I mean, she has FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND PREORDERS. Her management may be thirsty for more, but I doubt she has focused on that part of it. She's already really wealthy. If you don't want to buy it,  wait. That's the price you pay for not buying it in full.

Museums are almost always free and they're filled with art that has value. Maybe I enjoy your music but just not enough I'm willing to spend money it.

This. Also the idea that people should have to pay outright for each album they want to listen to is essentially saying that art is only for people who can afford it. And if Adele really isn't in it for the money, why couldn't she allow her album to be streamable for people who pay for music streaming services?

Let's see if she faces the same backlash that Taylor did :omg: I'm totally for artists taking their material off of streaming services if they feel like it doesn't do their work justice

If they take it off of streaming services, they make it harder to access their material, which inevitably will lead to pirating the album. It's rule #1 of software/platform development, and it applies to music production in the same way.

She will eventually I'm sure. Well, her team will that is. I don't see Adele caring AT ALL about whether it's streaming or not. You don't get to pay $2 and watch someone live. You have to buy a ticket at regular price or you can wait for the video that comes out later. Pretty much the same thing to me. You'll get it, just not right when it's out.

I understand why it's disappointing, but I support artists who do this. Most of them are doing it for the people who are not as famous or successful as them who DEPEND on record sales to continue creating music. Beyond that, I'm a HUGE believer in buying albums of my favorites and even just music that has inspired me even if it is only in a small way. I think more people should be inclined to support the music and artistry that they connect to and brings them joy and happiness. Streaming is great, but it's quite impersonal. Sometimes I just feel like the tech industry takes us away from actually enjoying and participating in something fully and tangibly.

people comparing with Taylor Swift though... Taylor has deleted all her discography from Spotify...

Adele is just not releasing on it right now, but she'll probably put it later on like she did with 21. Or Rihanna did with Unapologetic...
