The Countess, The Cortez and The Murder House

Do you guys think that these three are tied together?

During season 1, it was never explained why the murder house functions the way it does. All we know is that the "curse" of the murder house started right with its first inhabitants - the doctor and his wife. Now we've found out that the Hotel Cortez shares the same magic. Anyone who dies there can possibly come back to haunt it. This was already somewhat clear before, but now it was confirmed by March, saying that The Countess shouldn't kill Drake on the property as it would be awkward to keep running into him for all eternity.

There are a couple of things that tie these two properties together as far as a "cause" for that curse to occur. For one, both properties are innately flooded with death and murder. Whether or this is the true source of their haunted nature doesn't seem clear though.

Another big, and possibly more important similarity between the two is that they both play a significant role in the life of the Countess and her child. Bartholamew is obviously a child with "significance", to put it nicely, and it wouldn't surprise me if his exsistance and birth was the source of the magic that brought forth the curse, similar to how Vivien's child in S01 was also prophecized to bring forth "great" things. I'd personally be very interested to see them explore this a bit more during Hotel, and Bartholamew will obviously get some more backstory in future episodes, which might help. But untill then, we can speculate :fan:.

So, do you guys think that the Countess and her son are tied to the Murder House curse? Or do you think there's a deeper, not yet revealed source to it all? Or am I simply missing/forgetting something that was already explained in Murder House?

I think its just how ghosts operate in the AHS world. I doubt Gaga or circumstances surrounding her caused it. There were also ghosts in season 3.

Well yeah, but not every property acts that way. Remember in season 1 when Constance tried to get Adelaide onto the Murder House property after she was hit by that car? She specifically wanted her to be on the front lawn of that house because she knew that was the only way to see her again as a ghost.

Oh yeah I forgot about that  Maybe the property has to have had some serious sh*t happen on it? Like all the abortions and stuff in the Murder House, Witchcraft in the house from Coven, and all of Mr March's torturing/killing in the Cortez.

I think there's a difference though because anyone who dies in Murder House becomes a ghost, but when Sally is talking to Iris, she states that she better not have any unfinished business in the hotel because she doesn't want her there forever, so it's implied that you only stay if you have unfinished business

I don't think sally actually understands the concepts of why people stay behind, she was just using mainstream "ghosts have unfinished business" explanation.

Possibly, I still don't understand how far the reach of the ghost curse is as Sally was pushed out of the hotel

I always assumed Murder House was like a magnet for their souls. If their spirits are more strong (i.e. they have unfinished business, burdens) then they will be pulled in by the darkness inside the house. It's possible that this same 'force' pulled Sally in, since she was murdered.

so she did the same with Tate or he died in the Murder House?

Tate died in the Murder House. Constance's family lived there when the police came in to arrest Tate, but when he resisted arrest they shot him in his room.

I think that was Halloween, ghosts can go outside on that night in AHS
