I was just making an observation. When Taylor did it everybody jumped on that topic to call her money hungry, while the responses about Adele doing it are positive so far.

Why would i be referencing you when i don't know if you were one of the people that was against Taylor doing it? I don't know anyone's opinion on both topics so i can't single out anyone. I was just talking about the general view on GGD so far and it just proves that no matter what Adele does it is guaranteed to be viewed in positive light and accepted.

If i knew where you stood when Taylor did it, i would have singled you out and quoted you.

This is not even the same though. 1989 was kept from Spotify altogether whereas Adele's team just wants it to be available to paying customers.

How is it?

I don't even think artists earn more from listens from premium vs free users. If anything it just seems to me like Adele/her team would be encouraging people to subscribe with streaming services, encouraging the growth of that market. There's still technically a price on her music, but it's accessible. The more money Spotify makes = the more royalties they can afford to pay out to artists (you would hope). Taylor was protesting about underpayment but actively did the opposite of encouraging growth by removing her catalogue entirely and discouraging people from streaming (even though, like I said, I feel artists should be allowed to distribute however they like).

The whole point of trashing Taylor was that she wants people to pay for her music and won't let people listen to it for free. And Adele is doing the same thing, she won't let people listen to it for free on spotify but they would have to pay. Do you really think that if she let them make her music subscriber only she won't take a cut of the subscriber money?

But they're different strategies. I don't know how people would've reacted to Taylor doing this because she didn't do it. That point you made about her taking a cut is based on pure speculation.

"saint Adele" - why are you so bitter? I'm neutral to this whole thing. So because I'm supporting this one decision that "proves" that everything Adele does is seen positively?

Of course she wants to profit. It's her job. So does Taylor Swift and every other artist, no matter how much they say they don't. It's a business and there's no shame in it. But I feel that encouraging people to pay for Spotify, thus boosting the money in that particular market, will benefit smaller artists who rely on the small amount of streams & sales they get more than someone like Taylor encouraging a boycott of it entirely.
