When she released ARTPOP, EDM was fading and many songs didn't sound fresh because people were already tired of that genre.

As far as we know for LG5 she is collaborating with giorgio moroder and nile rodgers aka the disco queens. She released a disco song for tom ford's campaign so it's very possible to release a disco album as well.

Daft punk released random access memories 2 years ago and their album was a big success (get lucky smashed) so do you think gaga will follow an outdated trend again instead of serving a fresh one?

Nah I don't think it will be full disco... And I think she could relaunch that trend !

I have faith in Gaga, she hasn't the same sh*tty team than during ARTPOP and she has learnt from the past.

You're so bitter, you live up to your username :derpga:

I think she'll put her own twist on it so it doesn't sound like the typical songs of whichever genre she's working in, or at least not majority of the songs of the album anyway :D

Well she was releasing Disco songs way before the trend even started back in 2008 so I don't see the problem. Maybe she can do a full disco revolution like Kylie did with Light Years.

I'd argue that disco is just beginning, not ending. Random Access Memories was just an outlier. Look at Coldplay's new single, very disco influenced.

EDM is almost as vague a term as "pop music". Even two years later, ARTPOP resembles very little that has registered on top 40. And technically, Gaga has been doing electronic-dance since the beginning, no?...

But that's neither here nor there.

To answer your question, I trust Gaga implicitly by now to continue her trademark genre-mashing, taking old motifs and creating something from them that sounds unique and singular.

I disagree that she made a mistake with ARTPOP musically. I blame the underperformace on an unfortunate time in Gaga's life mixed with an incompetent team that she rightfully got rid of. Ultimately, Gaga's going to do what she wants and isn't going to pander to the lowest common denominator and ride it's trends. She's never done that and I think that's what makes her special in the current crop of pop stars. She makes the trends and sometimes she's successful and other times she's not.

I think radios want variety ^^ I think Gaga could give them some bops while Adele is giving them romantic ballads

I never understood why ppl here were saying EDM was outdated when ARTPOP came out when even today DJ like Calvin Harris, David Guetta, DJ Snake and much more are played every day on the radio, in clubs, and GP love those songs. EDM is always something sure because young GP is always here for a smash dancy sound track. So I donlt understand that statement that EDM is part of why ARTPOP failed.

Any EDM instrumental from ARTPOP with other big DJ's name would have smashed in clud and radio imo. Donatella would have smashed for exemple because it's very dancy, it's what young ppl love no matter what you say about the song's quality.

So I don't think ARTPOP kinda failed because of EDM. And there's always some disco that smash even today. Wait and see.
