How can there be peace when religions disagree with each other? Re-evaluate your thoughts. Religions don't disagree with each other lol, if anything a religion is an evolution of the one that came before. Go educate yourself in History of religion instead of being so hateful and hating religion. And don't say I disagree cause I'm religious, that makes zero sense. 1 hour ago, ShockPop said: Politics change and have a purpose. Religion does not. I'm tolerant with religious people, I just don't tend to agree with them. I find that they preach that they are really loving and accepting, when they really aren't. From my experience they are pretty close-minded and preach hate towards minorities. I also don't like all the s-xist, racist and homophobic remarks that are present in sacred texts such as the Bible. I mean, I know all religious people are not hateful or close-minded towards others, but there's quite a big amount of them that are this way, and think that they're teaching their kid/s the best values. Bebe 17,289
I'm not totally surprised by this, I think many religious children are raised with this idea that they have to be good otherwise they will be punished or judged. Non-religious children are more likely to be raised to be good for the purpose of being a decent person. Obviously this doesn't apply to every religious family or every atheistic family. How is it intolerant for people to celebrate atheists raising children well? It's okay for Christians to pat themselves on the back when a Christian charity does good for a community, but an atheist is happy that children from atheistic families have altruistic mannerisms and that's intolerant? One of the biggest attacks atheists face from religious people is that they cannot be "moral". This study shows that this isn't the case. I'm sure it's nice for some to be validated like this. This actually raises an interesting point in terms of having such 'infallible' strict moral guidelines. For some religious people, they would read certain texts and learn that gay people are an abomination or that women should not speak in temple, and interpret that as the word of a benevolent, moral and infallible God. To them there isn't any question about whether homos-xuality is wrong, it's the word of God and you are either for or against him. An atheistic family has more room to reason in their morality. When approached with homophobic propaganda they can ask "Is homos-xuality wrong? Does it hurt anybody? Is it harmful to society?" and, hopefully, reason that being gay doesn't hurt anyone and so shouldn't be considered evil. If somebody's starting point is that God is all good and his teachings and rules are moral/benevolent then when they read the "Word of God" and are confronted with homophobic passages then it would rationally follow that homos-xuality is immoral. There is less room to reason and explore moral issues and morality becomes very black/white without grey.
