For all you complaining about gaga "going back to pop" when no matter what she does she's gonna be pop because she's branded as a pop musician. You and I is pop. Dope is pop. ****ing hotline bling is pop. Is hotline bling a dance record like poker face? No it is not but it is still considered a pop song because it is POPULAR. pop is not a genre. It is a classification.

I think that when someone refers to not wanting Gaga to do pop music anymore, is related to her debut sound/genre (mostly dance and electro).

In that case shouldn't the Pop Songs chart look exactly the same as the Hot 100? Little brainteaser for your entertainment

But I'm only a man and I do what I can.

How does this chart work tho? I'm confused about Adele being 35 and 19 in its first two weeks

I think the Pop chart is based more on Pop radio Top 40. I think.....

I have no idea, but if you click on "How it works" it says:

"This week's most popular pop songs, ranked by mainstream top 40 radio airplay detections as measured by Nielsen Music."

So I went to the Radio Chart, which should feature the Pop songs in the same order  (and songs of other genres in between), yet Stitches charts higher than The Hills on the Pop Songs Chart, but the Hills charts higher than Stitches on the Radio Charts....

If you click on how it works it says:

"This week's most popular songs across all genres, ranked by radio airplay audience impressions as measured by Nielsen Music."

So unless there's a difference between radio airplay detections and radio airplay audience impressions, I don't know what this means

Actually you're a little confused.

There is "popular" music and pop music.

Popular music refers to all genres and describes songs that have wide appeal. i.e. the "Pop Songs" chart on Billboard. its also referred to as Mainstream Top 40 and refers the most played songs on top 40 radio stations of each week.

Pop music is a genre that is derived from rock and roll "Identifying factors include generally short to medium-length songs written in a basic format (often the verse-chorus structure) as well as the common employment of repeated choruses, melodic tunes, and hooks."

The two terms cannot be used interchangeably.

I think Pop is both for whats popular and is also considered a genre, or something like that. Billboard has so many unnecessary and complicated charts. I agree with the OP, Gaga is has and will always be Pop. I hope she does NOT go back to "Experimental" EDM (like most songs on BTW or 99% of ARTPOP). I hope she does Pop/Rock.
