Two years later and I'm still not over Venus being paid dust. For me it was a grower and had so much potential blowing up on radio.

Where do you guys think it would have peaked at on Hot 100? How many digital copies would it have sold in the U.S.?

Top 5 peak with over 2 million in sales would be my guess.

i love it but it wouldn't have done will. if applause could only muster top 5 with 2m sales then venus probably couldn't. especially considering the promo situation of the whole album era.

We will never know  I honestly think the song was catchy but weird enough. People back then were really hoping Gaga would deliver something different, and Venus could be the one.

It was different enough from everything to stand on its own. So, I believe it would be a top 10 hit and one of Gaga's signature songs.

It's hard to tell- it could've gone either way but I would've liked it to become a single before the album came out for that very reason. She still had DWUW in case it flopped similar to how the Judas/TEOG thing went down even though TEOG wasn't actually planned as a "backup" like many claim

If "G.U.Y." didn't do phenomenally, "Venus" didn't even stand a chance.

:dead:

If GUY was released as second right after Applause it would have done a hell of a lot better.

I bet it could have done well. It should have brought in the era tbh. It has that signature Gaga sound but it was something different and huge! It would have blown Roar out of the water. Then it should have been DWUW, then Applause, and finally MANiCURE.

Currently listening to Joanne

It could have gone either way honestly. An huge smash or total flop. It sort of a oxymoron of a song. Very experimental with that insanely melodic and commercial chorus.

Gaga is at her best and usually the most successful when she strikes that balance.

Who would have thought a song like Bad Romance could smash pre-TFM?

Mister Gaga

With a good video, Top 20. It isn't single material imo...DWUW managed to stay several weeks in top 20; with a video it could have gone Top 5 easily :trollga:

IMO it shouldve been Applause - DWUW - Gypsy - Venus - G.U.Y. and Donatella/MANiCURE as maybes it's hard bc it's not as obvious as her other albums but we can argue about this forever

The radio stations would have ignored it, but I'd bang it in the car on a daily... wait I already do

Applause. Venus. Gypsy. DWUW.  Donatella or GUY as fifth. Gypsy could have padded Venus if it flopped.
