Do you think Eh Eh and LoveGame were mistakes?

Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) was released as a third single in some countries and as a fourth in France. It received quite negative reviews and was a nasty bummer after fabulous Poker Face. Shortly after that LoveGame music video was released as a third single and it garnered more success then Eh Eh critically and commercially. Even though LoveGame was well received back then, the line: "lets have some fun this beat is sick, i wanna take a ride on your disco stick" was the only impact it left in Gagas career overall. This impact could have easily been achieved by only performing LoveGame live.

Another reason why I think these singles were mistakes is that music videos for these songs were both direct by Joseph Kahn. Don't get me wrong, he is a amazing director but as we all know from the Edge of Glory music video case, he didn't get along with Gaga so well. The original draft of Edge of Glory music video was never made because of creative differences. This means that when they were shooting Eh Eh and LoveGame Gaga probably made many compromises and Joseph Kahn had more creative control in making these music videos than Gaga

In my opinion songs like Starstruck or Summerboy would have been more appealing single choices. What are your thoughts?

Serendipity

Eh Eh would've turned her into Katy Perry tbh

(bubblegum pop leaning sound)

LoveGame was very local

It clearly didn't scare away people from loving Bad Romance or any of her following work, so no...

But I'm only a man and I do what I can.

LoveGame was a SMASH. Eh Eh was a SMASH (here in Australia lol).

Neither were mistakes. No song / release / single of hers has been a mistake. What's with all these threads?

These songs are bops, especially LoveGame Which is one of the most catchy times i ever Heard. Summer boy would be rather a mistake, I don't get why this song is so loved by the fans, just like scheisse. Like, TF era was perfect and iconic, it was on just point - it would not be better with filler song as a single.

I love all these throwback threads to The Fame era as of late :flutter:

LoveGame was never a mistake, it's performance on Ellen was praised highly at the time because of how perfect it was, which garnered her lots of new fans in those early days. I say that song served it's purpose very well.

Eh Eh, while everyone agrees is not one of her best songs, we did get a lovely acoustic rendition of it...so I am happy it was a single because of that.

Not really. They both weren't mistakes. People seem to like Eh, Eh (you know "wow she looks so normal" comments) and Lovegame was a hit. I do agree it should've been released a bit later though.
