I was under the impression that most fans did like it. But monsters overall taste has been disappointing me for a couple years now, so what do I know.

I don't hate it, but I barely listen to it, cause I get really emotional.

Most fans like Speechless, most fans don't like Dope. 90% of the arguments in here about artistry and rawness are invalid are elitist and I can bet most of you have never written a good song before in your life, so you feel validated by other people's music

I didn't like the delivery with Dope. I liked "I Wanna Be With You."

And for those of you putting people down for something so subjective... Get a grip. People are allowed to have their tastes and must everyone share your taste in music? That sounds like a dull, superficial world. Accept and embrace diversity and variety, it keeps life fresh.

Do your own research.

I have it tattooed on me. I bring that up in every topic about this song because of how much it means to me.

"She sounds drunk"

Clearly you dont get the song shut up and listen to music that is by someone other than a pop girl and understand that sometimes one CAN overflow with emotion.

Earthquake is to FOHL as

IWBWU is to Dope.

Stop complaining and just live god dammit

I like it, but it shouldn't be on ARTPOP.

Finally feeling free for the night, I got no worries. Finally got a claim on my life, baby, c'est la vie. ☄️

It doesn't hold up to her other ballads. Speechless, Honest Eyes, Future Love, Wonderful, Let Love Down and many more including live performances of Paparazzi and The Edge of Glory! Omg TEOG live performances (I like Brown Eyes more than Dope tbh).

I really don't like any of the weed inspired songs. Not because I care that she smokes weed, but because it seems superficial and uninspired. How can you put Dope right after MJH? I know she was having a complicated relationship with weed at the time, but that's the problem. She was writing about it during the time she was dealing with it which really makes it seem disconnected as an artistic piece.

I didn't really like IWBWU either but as far as I know, her management made her change the lyrics so it's almost the definition of uninspired.

And did someone just say Gypsy doesn't fit in with ARTPOP? Gypsy is a psychedelic trip if I've ever heard one. Gypsy IS ARTPOP.

IWBWY had such horrific lyrics.

Dope doesn't have a ton of replay value but it's a greater artistic achievement than most of the disposable, cheaply made songs on ARTPOP. The songwriting is some of her best, and the production and vocals work in tandem to deliver an immersive and powerful experience.

The song is out of place on the album though. If it had been a part of a darker, more personal album with better production than it would probably be less unfairly maligned. It's almost like it's criticized by some fans for being too good, on an album full of songs like Donatella lmao.

All they want from her is bops they can wiggle their butts to. Which is sad because she is so much more capable than being just a bops producing machine.

I'm pressed that she didn't release it as a single tbh. Flawfree production, amazing vocals, beautiful and definitely unique imagery. And the gp actually loved that song and it got acclaim from critics. It would have slayed lifes and less importantly but worth mentioning, charts.

it wasn't laaaahv

Because I Wanna Be With You was better :air:

was it? Lol. The lyrics in Dope are much better.

I don't know, it just got me more emotional and I was loving concept of song. Then she changed to Dope and I was like "Gags really?". I like Dope, but it's not the same experience.
