The lyrics to the song are the most personal Lady Gaga has ever released, the melody is heartbreaking and the voice fits the theme very well. Dope is, in fact, Lady Gaga's most honest song, a song where she gets rid off her theatricality (don't judgme, theatricality is the reason I fell in love with Gaga). Performances of this song, especially the one at the artRAVE are MAGIC. I went to one artRAVE show and Dope made me automatically, hopelessly cry and get goosebums. Slurring a song that's about d--gs and alcohol (or rather, the apology to everyone she hurt because of her dependence on d--gs and alcohol) was so clever. I also like how it ties into Applause.
