gagzus 15,831
This song is not satirical, at all. She genuinely wrote this song for her friend Donatella. It's a celebration of the superficial, not a mockery of it.'Donatella' is an incredible crazy fun pop song with really raising electronic beats that I did with Zedd. It’s about being a fearless female and not caring what people say about you – being proud of who you are and walking the walk no matter what. Maybe she’s a b---h, maybe she’s too skinny, maybe she’s too rich, maybe she’s too out there. Or, maybe she’s brilliant, maybe she’s intelligent, maybe she’s strong, maybe she’s everything, maybe she’s Donatella.” - Just Jared InterviewWhether we want to admit it or not, Donatella is a dance song without an underlying commentary on pop culture. It's not referential to the dark satirical songs on The Fame, it's just a mediocre pop song.Actually it is satire because it's about saying all those things that are the superficial assumptions about Donatella and Gaga are true making it seem superficial when she's mocking it and commenting on it like how The Fame did. It's not a mediocre pop song, it's a strong pop song and an even stronger dance song. It's meant to be mockery of what people say about her because Gaga knows it's not true, she knows Donatella isn't superficial, sitting on a golden toilet getting her ass wiped for her like people assume and getting by on her brother's name. The second verse alone tells you that it's satire

ChasingGhosts 726
The "She walks so bad..." part is the only part that's really good tbh. But slay anyway! Born This Way > Joanne > The Fame Monster > The Fame > ARTPOP

She uses lyrical exaggerations in a humorous way to celebrate Donatella's extreme lifestyle, not to mock the public's perception of Donatella. Donatella is a vain creature, it's not satirical to suggest that.Gaga fans generally pull the satire-card in order to justify some of her less then thought provoking projects. In reality Donatella belongs with Starstruck, Jewels N' Drugs, So Happy I Could Die, and a few others on the pile of filler tracks that are fun to dance to but ultimately throw-away pop songs.By the way, I'm not saying it's a bad song or that it's bad to like it. I'm just saying, lets not pretend it's deeper then it is.

GagaXCupcakke 3,818
Donatella is a fun song. I didn't like it until I saw it performed at the artrave. Usually when I listen to ARTPOP I'm too exhausted to dance to it. That album is so exhausting.
Bad Monster Kid 13,140
My husband isn't even a fan but listens to Donatella at least once a day. I think it would have made a good single. Fun camp song with great production fr Zedd. How can you not bop to this song?
AquaFire Witch 160
Always loved this song but didn't appreciate it the way I do NOW until I saw her perform it live at ARTPOP. It was my favorite performance of the night!

McMonster08 4,528
I still don't get the hate for that track. I remember hearing it for the first time and I was like, "THIS IS WHAT I EXPECTED FROM ARTPAHP!" I mean, it's fun, it's a bop, and the lyrics, I don't know why you find it stupid, but the song is about the glamorous life, and the tacky lyrics describes it well. Plus the song is basic-friendly. Could have charted if it became a single tbh. Should have had a video shot in Hearst Castle! *cough cough G.U.Y. cough* xoxo little manager now I feel like playing Donatella

Ok.Should've been a single for sure, my friends love it too.Irony at it's finest 🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼
