Look I gotta chyme in on this one. Let's call the thing a thing. No matter what happens this is still the music INDUSTRY this is a business and people have to make money including her. So yes this is a big slap in the face because she paraded around the world talking about this is her identity and basically playing on is young impressionable teenage fans who's real identity is what she was selling. We were bullied everyday for our real identity and for her to say it was just a character exposed the intention that her career was made to sell to our insecurities. Come on now let's be honest if it was ALL ABOUT THE ART then everything would be free because art is a visceral translation. I really hate that Gaga (or whoever she is today because according to her everything's a character now) lies through her teeth about EVERYTHING and a lot of us eat it right up. I don't like that at all. Ok if I'm gonna continue supporting her after this because that was a slap in the face and plus I've outgrown her now it's time to focus on my life and make my dreams come true instead of living through a "character". Remember this is all about selling.

well let's read this in a different way then.. What she made in 2008/2009 worked really well and her approach on performance art via the living character of Lady Gaga made much sense.

What's done shouldn't be broken by a confession of a woman *ahem, in a day off, *ahem.

I do think there's no artistic value lost with this interview and probably was just a necessity for what's coming next. Yes, cause let's be very real, that was just as staged as everything she does...

What are these "lies" that you're referring to?  Did she pretend to be a 15 year old gay boy suffering from bullying at school and now she's been unmasked?  What about her message has changed?  What has she said or done that makes you think her desire for a discrimination-free world was not genuine.

Yes, commerce and art are inextricably linked.  Have been since the dawn of civilization.  You could be cynical and say that you think her message was solely to mobilize impressionable youth to buy her concert tickets.  But there's not much evidence that she doesn't believe in what she preaches, either.

my english is bad but let me try to explain;

one person can have a multiple personas(or i should say persona is fluid), each one for different social areas; says in sociology

like you are feel and act different in front of your parents than to your friends or other people/the stage

in stefani's situation  its gaga agressive and the powerful vamp lady who can be get puked on stage and do whatever she wants; maybe its a neccesity to her to not collapse on stage in front of thousands people

its not that gaga isn't a part of her or fake or an act

yes you're absolutely right! In sociology and psychology there are three personas the Id, the Ego, and the Super Ego.

she literally showered in the Marry The Night video how she invented Gaga, and how the lie is her truth because she invented it. This isn't news guys.... :facepalm:

It's actually really interesting but I don't think it makes her fake or a liar. Should I speak from my own experience - as a writer, I often project myself into different characters (naturally) - in one book I wrote about twins, a boy and a girl. When I finished, I realised that the boy's character features describe me perfectly; then there was his sister, who was different. After a while I realised that she represented who I WANTED to be.

Not sure if it makes sense, but I understand Gaga. She projected all the desired characteristics (fearlessness, strength, etc.) onto a "character" and basically wears it everytime she feels insecure, which has been very often when being in public. Now we can see she's getting more and more comfortable with herself and the "mask" is slowly being taken off because she is starting to feel strong and fearless herself.

Anyway, that's my two cents. I really think some of you should stop being judgemental and accusing her of being fake/a product.

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

Gaga said that she created someone who was stronger than she was. Which basically means that it's both a character and it's not, no ? #ARTPOP

Loving everyone reading into such a simple sentence as "Lady gaga is a character" and believing it's overtly negative and now you're all acting shady. Y'all keep me breathing. :gaycat:
