Jessica Lange is a professional actress. Gaga, with the exception of flashes of potential (the MTN vid, Lady Chameleon, etc.), is an amateur making her first foray into this kind of an extended role.

Personally, I feel the writers have been limiting Gaga's screen time in a way that decreases the development of her character.

I'm sure anybody with enough time on their hands could chronicle the exact amount of screen time that Fiona and Elsa had, at this point in the run, compared to The Countess.

If the writers want to truly develop the character of The Countess, then Gaga needs an appreciable increase in screen time.

I'd disagree completely with any assertion that this is the "best season since Asylum".

The character of The Countess clearly lacks the gravitas of either Fiona Goode or Elsa Mars.

Compared to the other things going on in episodic television it's fairly decent, but I feel that the writers have been egregiously underplaying the possibilities of Gaga's character.

Lange is more professional and her characters (Fiona and Elsa) were vastly more developed than The Countess.

Well, i agree with that. But we can't judge an entire season only by Jessica. She's GREAT. She's the series mother. But Coven was a mess imo...despite she was there to save the season, the plot was horrible. But well, i respect your opinion.

Yeah I get that. In fact I've been defending her acting using this exact same reason as well. But the Emmys aren't gonna be so considerate imo so she needs to take the initiative to show the Emmy what she can do.

So... Is Liz alive or dead? Her backstory was in the 80s, and she hasn't aged at all from the flashback scenes.

Yeah, they both have that so-severe-it's-creepy art deco thing going on (with Mater Suspiriorum's chambers having neon accents as well).

I just assumed that they didn't try to make him look any younger for the flashbacks because of his scenes with Iris. It seemed that they both were the only "normal" people aka mortals.
