Not with her lead single. BUT if she plays her cards right, she might very well slay the entire universe with a second single.

Her Lead single will probably come with moderate success at first. But if the song is actually good, like Bad Romance level good, and the GP loves it, and if she manages to keep the mystery surrounding LG5, her second single might become a HUGE release and break every single record. 

Her proving to the GP that she's still amazing with a lead single will make the GP regain that awe they once had for her, which might very well make her album release or second single release a major pop moment. Pop music is like that. It's perfectly possible.

Not everyone doubting her  You guys do realize that you're saying that the woman who at one point had the single that was the fastest selling on iTunes can't sell a good single? Just because ARTPOP underperformed doesn't mean anything, now that she's been getting so much praise and named the Decade Defining Artist by Rolling Stone and Billboards Woman of the Year she's getting more promo and people are awaiting. Also, Bobby will do a good job in spreading the song.

The thirst isn't as strong for Gaga, so she is not going to have an instant 1 day hit like Adele.

BUT that doesn't mean she can't achieve great things if she releases great music. It's more likely the album/first single will be growers.

For that massive slayage you need HUGE hype and anticipation that's coming from the previous era just like gaga had with born this way (post tfm era) and adele with hello (post 21 era).

That's how a huge song debut works when a new era kicks off.

Gaga is coming from ARTPOP and the hype for her upcoming release is nowhere near Adele's.

In the long run her lead single could be a huge success but don't expect huge numbers the first week, it's just impossible to happen even if the song is a poker face 2.0

Well, she had her oportunity in 2011, and she kinda slayed everyone (in terms of commercial success). She broke records all over the world! Obviously, time passes and now we have a new record, but she broke it 5 years ago 

Now? No, she isn't even close of being at that level. She isn't even at 2013's level. There's no hype, apart from us. 

And that's the reason by which she will have success (if it's a good song, of course. And Gags lead singles are always good songs imo).

Gaga is not coming off of ARTPOP. We had C2C (+ a Grammy) , we had acclaimed performances and red carpets this year, we have AHS where she is doing really well and also being acclaimed. ARTPOP's mess was dead long ago.

And let's not forget she managed to get 20 AWARDS this year doing nothing.

EXACTLY.  It would be a totally different case if ARTPOP was the last thing people saw from Gaga before LG5.  While obviously Gaga doesn't have a success like TFM or 21 fueling her next record, everything that she did in 2014/2015 has generated a lot of buzz for her career and music.  As long as the music is high quality, I have no doubt that Gaga will see commercial success with her lead single.

Not likely...Gaga has been doing well in getting the GP back but despite her best efforts MOST people just don't like her simply based on them being stuck on the past and are blinded by her shenanigans from years ago...

People will welcome new Gaga music but won't be breaking records for her I feel...unless Bobby and his magical management skills has a plan to make her BIG again...he's been doing a GREAT job so far but we'll see

With Adele, people have been questioning her return for months. With Gaga, she is still in the spotlight with AHS. People aren't curious about her. And her last album didn't succeed as intended whereas Adele's last album was groundbreaking.

I am totally here for Gaga's return to pop music but I don't believe the impact will break records.

Sales and views wise, that is exactly why Adele is having a successful first single. People loved her when she first came out and suddenly she disappeared for a few years, the BAM new song. People missed her and were thirsty for her because they already respected her.

 

Gaga has to build up that respect before she can do something like Adele. Her image lately has gotten much better, but that's not enough to have a large amount of the public to love her. Especially not if she insists on making EDM.
