"If all those sounds in their songs are truly coming from their mouths, well, that's talent."

All of the sounds on their albums come from only their mouths. They are truly an acappela group.

Well, that's at least admirable. But I'll guess I'll have to see if they should have stuck to covers.

This didn't seem to improve the sales that much :green:

Those albums from each guy only count as 1 sale since they are on the same receipt.  You tried tho.

so much for supporting women etc

Oh for the love of God. This is what I'm meaning by you repeatedly quoting me just to be negative these days, hoping that if you get to me enough, I'll lose it, as I've have a habit of doing.

I've never claimed to support ALL women. I think women deserve to be praised when they've done something good or are good people. Just like men treat other men and everyone else. So, why is it when it comes to women, we've got to support everyone, even when they're no good? And it just so happens that a lot of women that are getting success right now are the ones I can't stand. No way will I support them just for being female. That goes against what feminism is trying to achieve, which is to be judged on our own merits as people, not as women. Supporting all women regardless puts feminism back, not forwards. I view everyone as people first and foremost, men/women second. When it comes to artists, I'm judging based on the art, the fact that they are a man or woman never comes into it (it would be very s-xist to do that, right?) I'm here for good music and I just want the best music to succeed the most. Seeing as Selena and Demi are 2 ex Disney stars who released music at the same time, the comparisons will be there. I thought Demi's was better, so in the battle of the ex Disney stars, I'd prefer Demi to win. Seeing as Selena got an opening week of over 100k and went to #1, I'd at least like Demi to achieve on the same level. That's all. In the game of music, I'm all about "let the best artist win." Gender is never the basis for my support, as well it shouldn't.

*Looks up Pentatonix* In the name of all that is holy, what has music come to?! This is what the public wants to buy, seriously? This is like Karmin but more of them, and worse. Not another favourite album of the year of mine being narrowly pipped to the post - first Honeymoon, now this. All the best pop albums of the year are being snubbed like crazy in favour of the worst kind of music imaginable. No need to worry, in the long term, though, Demi, a band like them who rely on covers can only last so long. In a few years, everyone will be like "Penta-who?" and go "This is what we made #1? Really?"

who won a grammy and who thinks she will get one someday?? :fan:

Buying into media feuds of woman vs woman though. Didn't say you had to support someone because of their gender.

Selena will win, anyway.

What's that got to do with anything? Demi's making good music right now, so I'm supporting good music. I don't care who the artist is or what they've achieved.

Yes, you basically did say I had to support someone because of their gender - what else did "so much for supporting women" mean? Here you go accusing me of getting the wrong idea again when I'm clearly not. You're just annoyed because my reply showed you up. And I'm not buying into anything. Whenever there's 2 similar artists releasing music at the same time, I compare. I'd do it if it was 2 rockers, 2 rappers, whatever. Gender never comes into it. Selena and Demi are both ex Disney and they're both trying to make a big "I'm really grown up now" statement with their respective albums, so naturally, I'll compare. Even if I was buying into a feud, it would be for musical reasons, not for gender. But nice try attempting to think you know how my mind works based on the general public's reactions. I've got an answer for everything and I'm more complex than you give me credit for.

Seriously, why make such a big issue out of a throwaway comment?

lol you didn't show me up, i knew exactly what you were going to say because you're so predictable.

they're such different artists but they're the current "easy" pop girl comparison/argument that you're only perpetuating. oh well!

also:

"You're just annoyed because my reply showed you up."
"But nice try attempting to think you know how my mind works"

in the SAME POST.

you couldn't write half the **** you come out with, honestly

No, I was referring to your original assertion that I wasn't supporting women (this is another thing, you keep thinking my words are directed at the wrong situations - I flow in chronological order, so if I said something at the start, refer to what you said at the start) when I said I showed you up. And me, predictable? Come on, you only need to look at my music taste to know that isn't true.

They're not really that different. They're both ex Disney, they're both brown-eyed, brunette Hispanics, they're featuring rappers on their songs, they're both going for a grown up, deeper sound with their new music, they're both talking about going through a life makeover with their music, they're both going for a s-xy image and creating a little bit of controversy with it. Of course they're very similar. They constantly get put into the same category for a reason. I'm sure under Selena's "if you like her, you'll like..." column, Demi is the first name there and vice versa. The only difference is that one of them can sing better than the other.

I only said that because I can see right through you. Your backtracking is the most predictable thing here. You always try to turn it right back on me when I challenge you because you can't come out with a good rebuttal, so instead resort to just attacking me. People around here get very angry when the people who they quote comes out with an intelligent response, I find. It's like they assume "This person doesn't agree with me, therefore, they must be stupid. Let's have some fun trying to make them tick."

How am I backtracking? I've maintained the same stance throughout this exchange :rip: You constantly criticise women and compare them to each other, drag them down due to their looks/choices, slut shame etc... Then try and cover it up with this feminism guise lol, like please...

Oh and she's pretending she's more intelligent than everyone else. I'm shocked.
