What a clumsy backtrack. Nothing she said made any sense whatsoever. She just talked herself round in a circle. She foolishly believes that no one keeps tabs on the past things she says. Before the tracklisting of 1989 was even released, she said in interview that she had a song on there called Bad Blood and that it was about a fellow female artist who she thought was nice but then would say something to me that would make her question if she was a secret mean girl. She then revealed her true colours by stealing some of her backing dancers ("she tried to sabotage an entire arena tour - she tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.") Fans then quickly did some research and didn't take long to find out that 2 dancers left Taylor's Red tour to join Katy's Prismatic tour. And it also turned out that at the end of 2013, one of the dancers who left went on to say "I was with Taylor for the first six months. It was a great experience and she’s a great person to work with, but then Katy contacted us." But just in case it wasn't obvious, Taylor's video involved Selena Gomez in a black bob similar to Katy's current style (and everyone else kept their original hairdos in the video, so...).

So, there you go - mystery solved, no room for interpretation.

I can't stand it when artists insult the public by implying that we're stupid. It is absolutely cringey how much Taylor consistently tries to keep up this goody goody image. As the comments below this article show, less and less people are falling for it. This mask has been slipping more and more over the last few months. I bet she thought this explanation would be a good form of damage control, but it did the exact opposite. The public may have a low attention span, but they always remember the stuff you'd wish they'd rather forget. If Taylor truly hadn't wanted people to speculate the story of the song and who was the subject of it, she would never have a said a thing and just let us interpret it for ourselves. But no, she chose to give the game away almost completely before the tracklisting was even revealed. And now she's backtracking because people are starting to call her character into question. I'd prefer it a lot more if she was just honest about her intentions, even if she just took a "they know who they are and the public know who they are" approach. But saying that it didn't mean what you originally claimed? Well, that's just fake and insulting to the public who buy your music. Another day, another chink in Taylor's good girl armour. Here's a tip, Taylor: make sure you never commit a crime, because if regular civilians can find out the truth about your BS within minutes via a simple online search, you won't last through 5 seconds of a detective's interrogation!
