I believe any culture that partakes in the unnecessary slaughter and consumption of animals is backward. However nations like Korea and China are particularly worthy of criticism because they have almost no Animal Welfare legislation. My issue is not with dog meat, but with meat in general. There is simply no comparison between the United States and Korea when it comes to which nation offers more protection for the human treatment of domesticated animals.

 

Every thanksgiving Americans slaughter and consume innumerable amount of innocent turkeys in celebration of our valiant victory of exterminating the backward Native Americans (who had been slaughtering and consuming turkeys for thousands of years). We could just slaughter and consume carrots instead (and the native Americans could have just slaughtered and consumed carrots instead).

Besides, dogs are probably mostly rabid in China anyways, when they bite Chinese people, Chinese people become rabid too, that's why Chinese people are biting dogs.

I'm not trying to argue for the consumption of dogs, just that eating them doesn't make a culture any less backwards than those that eat other types of meat if you're against that sort of thing.

Carrots share an uncanny resemblance to the phallic representation of the enemies' penes. So let's cut penes, and spare the turkeys a life.

And have some cashews (but never turkeys) since carrots don't contain enough proteins. A healthy consumption of Protein leads to a stronger muscle build-up (esp. after working out); stronger biceps and firm chest and six-pack abs and thick thighs mean more attractive characteristics for gay aesthetics; which in turns means hotter gay s-x. 

To simplify, cashews = hotter gay s-x. (Kinda of like how e=mc^2). 

So we should push for more cashew consumption in this country. Let's lobby and push for legislations and send those, who are involved in the entire production chain of turkey meat, into the prison. Then I'll set up a company that sells cashews and you little monsters better buy stocks and we'll engage in hot gay orgy all together.

Why are you all discussing about culture and ethics when it's pretty obvious that his comment was ignorant and indeed quite racist (it's actually xenophobic)? 

Only a small percentage of the population eats dogs regularly and its consumption has been controversial in the last years.

Saying that you can't trust a group of people because in their country some people do a certain thing is xenophobic. Not true. It's simply because eating dog meat is normal in North Korea, nothing about communism.. (while North Korea actually seems like a Republican dream with huge inequality, no privacy, harsh punishments, no immigration, strict border control, etc).
