In Germany this is today's top news.

I guess, you are talking about the (low) attention this incident gets on GGD?

Yep. If it were in UK or USA this thread would have 20 pages

Well probably because not many people here know of Turkey or where it is?

It's the top news here in the US all day and still

Unfortunately you are right - regarding the USA.

I think, the news on TV in the UK shows much more international incidents in comparsion to the news on TV in the USA though...

How come I am not surprised?

Seriously: Is the average US-American really so stupid?

I am very sorry, but also fellow US-American members on GGD are usually much more shallow in comparsion to fellow European ones.

Sometimes it is really scary to read their ignorant posts.

But in talking and trashing about "gossip" they are clearly the champions!

This is so sad. I don't know why people have to kill like this. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected. Violence like this isn't necessary

Probably because they are closer to that area of the world.

However, I just turned on CNN and they are covering the bombing in Turkey. I imagine all the nightly news channels will cover the story, as well.

Not any more so than the younger generation in other countries.

The majority of people are going to know the general location of Turkey.

The death toll is up to 97 now. :(

US doesn't have many Turkish immigrants... I think a US citizen would be more familiar than a European with (for example) Vietnam. Doesn't change that general knowledge is quite low in the new generations.. :rip:

A girl from US thought Germany is part of England. Neve heard a European saying things like that :rip:

A couple of years ago a colleague and I went together in our midday break to the terminal of the international airport in Düsseldorf and ran on our way to a restaurant into a group of arrogant, unintelligent and simple tourists from Texas (USA), who just arrived in Germany and who were honestly wondering about us having actually electricity and clean tap water... One of the idiots was also wondering, why he couldn't see any "ruins" during the approach of landing...
