Sizzily 14,543
ah okay. I'll crawl back into my cave and be quiet :( I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap at you like that. SpadesToStart 3,447
I think I understand what she means, and I agree with her. If she uses her music as a place to vent all her pain and frustration, ultimately the emotion of it can overtake and hurt the quality of music. I think Dope is a good example; never been a fan and tbh I like IWBWY better in terms of tone and vocal performance. She was so focused at pouring all her pain into that song, that her musicianship suffered. Also, look at the Youtube awards peformance. It was a hot mess and just plain embarrassing. That's not to say there's not room for emotion and pain in her music, without them we wouldn't get songs like Speechless or Brooklyn Nights! But she doesn't want to let it consume her music, like it kind of did with ARTPOP.
Clip 5,100
Also, look at the Youtube awards peformance. It was a hot mess and just plain embarrassing.Okay it was sort of bad but it wasn't that bad
Whispering 18,865
There are things called shipments and adjusted/estimated sales. And they are reported the same for every artist. So, when you see those totals for every artist, that is what you are seeing. IFPI reported 2.3 in 2013 alone and Gaga herself said they had sold 2.5 million worldwide by March. 2.3 is the number all music industry media and publications are going to report for 2013 alone. PopBitch 1,218
I hope not. The minute you start doing what you think people want you've lost the plot and no greatness or spontaneity will come from that, and actually a lot of ARTPOP was doing what she thought people wanted after Born This Way. Not that it wasn't her music and vision but I think trying to chase singles again.
Hexxx 2,244
But she has to remember that she has a fanbase of every sound she has put on her albums. There's Dance pop, there's electronic, Rock, and Dark/Light music etc with fans screaming "I want this, I want that." She won't be able to please everyone and i think it's tearing her mind apart I know it is Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko

It's mostly just fictional stuff and metaphors. Not saying that's bad but it would be nice to have music people can relate to rather than just dance along for a change. Cody Draco 2,531
I can't at people now complaining abFope this? How insincere to mock everything Gaga has done post Alejandro and then get super offended when Gaga notices it and says her fanbase doesn't like raw emotional songs. If being on Gagadaily has taught me anything, it's that this fanbase mainly wants her to succumb to the industry comepletely so they have good chart receipts to troll on ATRL. Honestly I'm feeling like a humongous portion of this site doesn't even like her, they're just here to complain about everything she does, irregardless if they contradict themselves or not. I'm complaining about this because Dope is one of the best songs on ARTPOP and probably the best ballad of her career. She f*cking cried singing it at the YT awards. That is what a meaningful song will do to an artists. I want more personal music from Gaga, less Donatella sh*t. The Edge of Glory is miles ahead of Just Dance and Poker Face, she should strive for more of that. I'm upset because it sounds like Gaga is insecure about what her art should be. I want her to actually say f*ck the charts for real and stand by that. Make music she loves like Scheisse and if it becomes successful so be it. I'm not here for her pandering to the Little Chartsters. I'm here for the insanely talented crazy cool badass boundary pushing artist Gaga is. We only got some of that on ARTPOP with the title track, Aura, Swine, etc. You probably weren't even talking about me but I'm just taking this chance to elaborate on why I'm disappointed right now. Since so many people have an issue with my honesty around here.
Quark 7,098
It's not like she has to chooseShe can just give us the Just Dance's and Bad Romances and keep the rest to herself, she doesn't need to put all her songs on her albums. (sort of like an ACT II situation, the songs exist but we will never get them)The thing is that not everyone has the same taste you have. Many of her fans plus the GP, want that other stuff that doesn't sound like JD or BD. In other words, yes, she doesn't have to choose what she puts on her albums. But that includes the songs you don't like too. She can't please everyone at the same time.

Since so many people have an issue with my honesty around here. I mean you're quite minority, 99% of this site thinks that Dope and Swine are utter bullsh*t. But I somewhat agree, I wish Gaga wouldn't care about what the people on here especially say at all since they're not really qualified to tell Gaga who she is. But you can see it as an opportunity/mindgame for Gaga. I mean as in "What if Gaga made an album that was so uberly perfect, polished and pandered to her fans so badly that it was comic, sarcastic and satirical?" Also I think you can relate her statemant to the interview for the CR Fashion Book that she gave some months ago where she said art is like a language for her and it her mission to learn it and be able to communicate with it efficiently. I think, that she thinks, she wasn't able to communicate efficiently with ARTPOP which is why it was torn apart so much. I feel like she somewhat wants to make a compromise. And that she feels eternally misunderstood as a human being/artist and that it kinda drove her wild that the hate for something that was so close to her heart was 10X more vocal than people getting to the core of it and understanding it. Fans of most other artists know what they will be getting, the same music they have always been getting, and they are fans because they like exactly that music. I live outside the space time continuum.
Swan Heart 7,382
I was really upset about this, but now I'm just confused.I guess, I'll have to wait untill we hear new music. They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.
