I loove Babs and she's an extremely talented, but she is NOWHERE Madonna's level in impact made in history of Entertainment. Madonna is forever going to be in history books with Elvis, MJ, Beatles.. There's Babs? What has Babs changed or impacted in anything? Is she The most succesful female artist ever? Is she remembered and know by everyone of every age like M? Just no.... But to say Barbra won't be remembered years from now or is not well known is utter BS. She conquered every avenue she set foot in: movies, music, Broadway, television. Contrary to what people are saying on here, she has had quite an impact. She is one of the first female artists to have complete control of her career, she was a mega selling music star despite not following the latest music trends (she had a brief pop/disco phase in the 70s, but she mostly sung standards and show tunes). She was a major and outspoken feminist and political activist throughout her career, long before it became fashionable to be such. First woman to ever direct and star in a major motion picture. first woman to ever win an Oscar for composing a song for a film, only artist to ever have a #1 album in six consecutive decades, the latest one being in 2016, 54 years after releasing her first Grammy award winning album, and despite her being "irrelevant." They are both "big" and will "be in the history books" but for different reasons. I'd say in a lot of ways they are equal in their followings but that's it for the comparisons.
