  1. 1. Commercial or Critical Success for LG5?

Obviously it would be both in an ideal world, but if I had to choose, critical. Despite the commercial 'downturn' since ARTPOP, Gaga  releasing a critically acclaimed album would almost guarantee it to be somewhat commercially successful as well, especially if AHS is a success.

Both /closethread

Why do people do this? So annoying. As I said in the OP, both would be lovely, but that's not the question I'm asking. If you don't want to participate in the discussion then just don't.

I think she's getting serious this time and going for both!

She herself and her team have learned a lot from the ARTPOP mess /I hope they did/

I just can't wait for her new music, cuz everything sounds the same on the radio and it makes me sick.

If I had to choose I'd say Commercial because that means the tour will be bigger and her label will spend more money on her next era.

But I would personally want a mixture of the two if I had to choose. Have it be okay commercially and okay critically.

Probably on Grindr

I think that critically successful means an album of a very good quality, while a commercially successful album means... anything. Pretty sure y'all know about the trashy songs that are popular, that are #1 almost everywhere, that are forgettable and have no significant impact in the long run. And it's not surprise that Gaga isn't any of that, and it's not a surprise either that she is able to have both a commercially and a critically successful album, but critical success will benefit her and her status as a talent artist.

Commercial success means a larger exposure of her image, message, and lyrics to the public. Critical success means, well... not a whole lot, and probably not a whole lot to Gaga either.

And to everyone saying critical success means better music none of Gaga's albums have been seriously critically acclaimed other than Cheek to Cheek. The average is a solid 70. Majorly, the music that a Lady Gaga fan is going to call incredible would seem subpar or lowbrow to music critics.
