The girl was shot in cold blood and left to bleed with eyewitnesses and photos and people here are worried about no one saying anything bad about idf.

I am not disputing that this is tragic, as I clearly expressed in my post, and more measures need to be taken to ensure things like this don't happen.  Let me be clear, I am offering no excuses for what happened, simply exploring why it might have happened.

It's the same case as if a police man would shoot a theif or a criminal as an act of defense. That's the way I see it.

Whether she really tried to attack them or not, I don't know. We all don't know that. 

Still think they could have handled this in a better way and not by shooting her multiple times like that. 

As I said, I see it as an act of defense which went terribly wrong. And I'm really sad that this happened to her.

Please don't quote me. It's an act of murder not defense. She didn't attack them. Look at the photos of her schoolbag, she had no weapons. She was also too far from them.

Some of the comments here seems so cold and calculated. Like...check the priorities.

You are more worried about image of your country than innocent person's death.

How do you explain multiple shots to stomach and chest AFTER she fell? Not allowing paramedics to approach her for 30 minutes? There was no self defense here.

It was an act of defense which led to a horrible murder. I never said I don't agree with that.

But here is the thing, we don't know what happened. Of course one side would say this and the other side would say that. If the IDF really wanted to kill an innocent palestinian, they could've just shot anyone who passed the checkpoint. There was obviously some kind of misunderstanding (or not) by her intentions. Again, we don't know if she really tried to attack them or not. The IDF did show a picture of her knife  And we both know what happened when a soldier came towards a Palestinian lady once at a checkpoint and got stabbed to death.

This was an act of defense, I'm pretty sure of that.

 

Yet again, this doesn't mean they should've shot her multiple times to prevent an attack. There could've been other ways to handle this properly.

Yes, I'm aware; I only jumped to that point because these threads on GGD ALWAYS devolve into that argument.   

Of course it's shocking and extremely saddening.  I hope those involved are held responsible, and I will be just as disappointed as you if they're not.

I'm sorry if I upset you by jumping ahead of the issue; this subject is extremely touchy, and tempers on both sides flare out of control easily, which for us just means a forum debate, but in Israel, can lead to these types of tragedies.

I can understand their concern if she was carrying a large bag and wouldn't open it to show what was inside in such a intense area as the border, but after they shoot her in both legs it all just seems very senseless. It's a pretty big shame :/

This video posted by the news agency PalMedia shows a young Palestinian woman left to bleed on a sidewalk in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron after she was shot by Israeli soldiers on Tuesday morning.

 

By evening, Palestinian media reported that the woman, 18-year-old Hadil Salah Hashlamoun, had died of her injuries.

 

Instead of being given immediate medical treatment, the video shows her being pulled roughly out of the frame of the camera, her scarf coming off as her head drags on the ground.

 

Israeli settlers and soldiers can be seen standing around, and in some cases smiling and laughing in the background.

 

Wattan TV reported that the young woman was left to bleed for more than 30 minutes.

 

In a separate incident, a Palestinian man was also killed overnight by Israeli forces near Hebron.

 

Local sources told Ma’an News Agency that Diyaa Abdulhalim Talahmah, 21, was killed by the army during a raid in the village of Khursa.

 

Israel has claimed he tried to throw a Molotov cocktail at its soldiers.

 

These shootings come just days after Israel loosened even further its already lax permission to its forces to use live ammunition against Palestinians.

 

 

No weapon

The Hebron-based group Youth Against Settlements published several photos on its Facebook page that it says show the young woman immediately before and after the shooting.

 

The photos show a person dressed in a long black dress and headcovering, carrying a briefcase. In none of the images is she holding any sort of weapon.

 

Several Israeli personnel are pointing weapons at her.

 

Youth Against Settlements suggests the photo sequence shows that Hashlamoun tried to leave the checkpoint before she was shot.

 Other photos show the person lying on the ground with at least one bullet wound, the same briefcase visible near her.

 

Additional photos show the scene of the shooting, including blood on the ground and bullet holes in a metal door, after the victim was removed.

A senior army source said Hashlamun set off a metal detector at Hasam Shoter (the policeman’s checkpoint) in Hebron, which separates the Israeli and Palestinian sections of the city.

She ignored requests by the soldiers to stop, and stood in a suspicious manner before advancing toward the soldiers, the source said.

“Soldiers shouted for her to stop, and fired at the ground. She, nevertheless, continued to walk toward them, and pulled out a large knife. The soldiers fired at her legs, but she did not stop. At this stage, she was hit in the lower body,” the source said.

Minutes after the incident, the IDF recovered the knife from Hashlamun, and published a photograph of the knife on the ground.

Late Monday night, near Hebron, a Palestinian man was killed when a grenade, intended to be used to harm Israeli soldiers, apparently detonated prematurely while still in his hands.

what I see on the picture is a knife that could be anywhere, put by anyone... I don't see as this is a proof...

I'm too afraid to watch the videos or even photos.

Hopefully the poor girl is now in a better place and the soldier/s will be brought to justice.

Stop giving idiots guns. I feel so sorry for her family and friends. Who knows, she might have become the next Einstein. Unfortunately, we will never know because people who are meant to protect us keep killing us.

Disgusting... We really need Magneto to take all the guns, bullets, and knives and toss them into the Sun. Without weapons, humans are less dangerous, though not absent of it. Though they would be easier to control.
