I do not think that there is any connection between Gaga's Candy Warhol and the actual Candy Darling, only that the name Candy is connected to Warhol. I have always thought that she messed it up by using the name Candy, she should have made up her own name that was not synonymous with Warhol being an actual person.

Agreed. I was super interested and am a huge Warhol artist and Factory memorabilia collector and was waiting to see where Gaga would go with it when I had seen it, but Gaga never fleshed it out or anything. It was just something fun for the intro at concerts, it looks like, at least.

Yes I have, that's old. Like @Steve Nasty said, it's just a character played, but rather more of a skit for The Fame. Candy Warhol is derived from Candy Darling. Watch this:

I find it ironic that the story goes that Andy found Candy and told her she needed to be in movies and what's the first role Candy says she's going to play? A naive girl that goes to hollywood to make it big and ends up getting killed. I almost feel like that was some kind of big cosmic joke on Andy's part.
