craig 680
The song is such a downer, as much as Dope. I prefer songs that encourage meeting adversity with strength. The are several bad things that I imagined were much worse "till they happened to me" ... then I discovered they didn't mean my life was ruined and I was a loser. retroglamx 5,177
That was a very touching video. It made me cry really hard. Lovely song as well, I hadn't listened to it at all cause I wanted to listen to it first when I watched the video and I was not disappointed. I hope this song/video/message/movement gets the exposure it needs. I was completely unaware that these things were happening in college campuses and it's truly sickening to think that the authorities are not paying attention to it. Slay me Gaga, Queen of PSAs. Pink flamingos always fascinated me.
Katie14 4,828
Great video. I just wish they found a way to portray coerced rape. Most rapes are not the violent physically forced kind that was shown in the video. I think this is a huge misconception that most people have. Most of the time there is some type of power difference and people are convinced and/or manipulated into having s-x.
azul 2,099
There is nothing that makes me more sad and angry than rape. In movies or in tv shows, when it happens, I feel so disgusted and mad. This video is so powerful and the song matches so well with it. Sexual aggression must be stopped. It's a mark that follows you for the rest of your life.
Voltaire 4,531
Mom sent me a link to the video and said via text: "Wow-- made me cry" I think she was thinking I hadn't seen it yet. Either way, glad it's found its way to her organically and that she was positively affected. Having two sisters entering HS, she may have become more aware of the issue they hopefully won't have to face because of efforts and awareness. windzo 765
Simply my interpertation of one scene of the videoAround 4:20 to around 4:25 We see a male walking out of a room who is in the middle of his group of friends. Its safe to say he was also a victim. What interest me is how its not so noticable which leads me to believe that moment represents how little male victims are talked about when it comes to this subject which I think it was really clever to place it there. Here is a screen shot of the male victimhttps://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpl1/v/l/t35.0-12/12015492_1030025243715523_760487314_o.jpg?oh=f2914e6b9f549a49e247fa3fa2db233e&oe=55FF1416
Sister 9,907
I appreciate that Gaga and everyone did this song and video for awareness. I watched the video, but can only watch it the once, it cuts too close to my wounds and makes me cry immediate.Thank You Gagax The future's uncertain and the end is always near. Neptune 156
It didn't really work for me, tho. The message was kind of poorly executed and the acting was cheap.
hausofkc 2,530
Still not a fan of the song but the video gave me chills.
StrawberryBlond 14,820
Appreciate the message but I wasn't overly fussed with the song or one element of the video (the first scene looked a bit strange - the boy's overweight nature gave the slight impression of comedy and the girl's acting was a bit...off). Don't get me wrong, it was very emotional, especially at the end. As long as the message gets out, it doesn't really matter what the song is playing behind it, though. This is the thing, if there's anything to be critical of, you'll going to feel terrible because it deals with such a sensitive subject. So...it is what it is - it shed light on something important and that's good. The song is such a downer, as much as Dope. I prefer songs that encourage meeting adversity with strength. The are several bad things that I imagined were much worse "till they happened to me" ... then I discovered they didn't mean my life was ruined and I was a loser.I think the video brings up the strength message to compliment the music. As good as finding strength is, wallowing in the sadness can help a bit at first. You've got to take in what's happened and get all your emotions out and this song refers to that depressive period where all you want to do is curl up and die. But once this period is over, then it's time for strength, and the video shows that. You'll notice that the lyrics bring up stuff about being told to hold your head up and get back on your feet because that's what we're told to do when something bad happens...but it's not that simple or that fast, especially when it comes to something like rape. Plus, getting all your tears out can feel good and is the first step to moving on as you feel better afterwards. You just need to respect this difficult period for the sufferers, is what the song says.
