Emvee 8,130
HOLD THE F*CK UP JENNA.Millie x Gaga MADE ALL THE HEADLINES. Were you under a rock?!she also didn't take into account the fact that SXSW wasn't TELEVISED. That makes a HUGE difference because what's televised gets talked about on social media and henceforth more widely covered by mainstream media. I agree with the point that shock value eventually loses its effect. The thing she maybe doesn't understand is that Gaga's """"shock value"""" isn't for the sake of being shocking... It's because Gaga is a twisted b---h and she doesn't immediately realize that wearing meat might be considered offensive. She thinks it's poetic and beautiful. NewYorkCity 10,530
... the vomit was all over the media. Lol. Anyway, they make good points but still a lot of them are not true. Gaga has never put d--gs in your face the way Miley does. Not even s-x. And she has very s-xual explicit moments, but it doesn't feel the same. And that guy is hot, give me his phone number. I wanna marry him.
LoveandMagic 1,731
I rather enjoyed this video. They were able to argue like sane and rational human beings. That's what an actual debate looks like. Wish certain other online personas would follow in their shoes. Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. I should really just relax." djBuffoon 12,096
I completely agree that Miley wants to play in the same ballpark as Gaga, except Miley jumps right to tongue-wagging and revealing outfits, instead of first honing her craft with class, wit, or commentary. There's nothing substantial or intriguing about a Miley performance. And there's no problem with that, but that is the main difference between the two artists.Jenna's points were a little... off. She claims that the "vomit" performance left audiences feeling ambivalent and unsurprised. If I'm not mistaken, there was indeed a lot of reaction from those who were paying attention, very positive or very negative. The reason it didn't make headlines was because it was a substantially smaller audience watching it to begin with, unlike a widely broadcast show like the VMAs. But she is incorrect, it managed to shock even Gaga's biggest fans. And she also believes that Gaga sells shock value, which is to miss the bigger picture. As I said before, there is always a wise context with which Gaga presents her work that lifts it from "shock" to "art".
