On the Floor was so big because it was so radio/club friendly and had the right formula for music during that year, but she made the mistake of reusing that same formula for her next efforts. Her music popularity dropped off after she made movies tho, I can't really say why, but she was never a true singer. Still isn't. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. She's the celebrity that knows all the greatest parties to attend and invite other celebrities. They used to play repeats of In Living Color early in the mornings, and when she joined the Fly Girls (I think their second or third season) she pretty much stole every performance they had. I think it wasn't long until she was the center girl. I think too it was a thing though for dancers in the 90s to want to become singers (I think trying to replicate Paula's success). Plus she was beautiful and charismatic, easy to promote. But I think for a long time she was known more as an actress than her singing. The way my mom talked about her, it seemed people always saw music as a side project for her, even though she was pretty successful. Just repeat to yourself, "It's just a show. Paco 3,040 Posted September 8, 2015 Share Posted September 8, 2015 Her career is doing pretty well if you ask me american idol, her perfumes, the movies, plus all the huge brands asking her to be in their ads, etc... her last musical effort just flopped, but if you ask me it's the lack of promotion, and a not so good album (half of it is great, the other half is utter crap) that could make it look like her career isnt going good, but trust me she's doing really well Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
