I'm sure this question has been asked before, but now, 7 months out from Gaga's Oscars performance, I think the impact of the Oscars on Gaga's image can be seen easier. The two performances are inarguably Gaga's most famous, but which one do you think has impacted Gaga and her career direction most?

One cemented Gaga as something new to the world of pop and not just a regular pop star for the public, while the other allowed Gaga to leave the world that she had already created at the 2009 VMAs, as well as, for many, reaching comparisons to Streisand and other legends.

So, what are your guys' thoughts?

Both are important.

But the VMA's was a game changer. It showed everyone that she weren't your ordinary Popstar and that she mean't serious business.

However, the Oscars showed the ignorant majority that she could actually sing.

For me, the VMA's,  just.

We'll really need to see an era to know what 2015 Oscar's may or may not have done for her. BUT, I anticipate that it's had a huge impact on the GP.

In business we learn that keeping a costumer is easier than getting new ones, so under that perspective and given the fact that vma 09 is to this day consider by many the turning point that made them stan I guess vma 09.

However in the pop world whats truly difficult is to maintain yourself consistently through the years and oscars 15 is the one that opened a new way to see gaga and improve her reputation as an artist so oscars 15 is my final pick

I'd say the 2009 VMA's performance, for it basically locked her in as a superstar and showcased her performing abilities well. The 2015 Oscars was definitely an important one which changed some people's minds about her talent but the 2009 one overall changed the game.

VMA's performance was watched at the moment by 9 million ppl and the Oscar's watched by 36,6 million...so more people watched her powerful and outstanding performance, VMA's are watched by mostly teenager/young adults, the Oscars are watched by teenagers, young adults, adults and the older people too and most important not music people.....that performance was in the 'film zone'  that people are way more critic than the VMA viewers....

Oscars, duh. My musician friends put Gaga on top of the famous singers due to this performance.

the VMAs performance was important in the process of building Gaga's image and her career, and the Oscars performance was important in solidifying her image as the ultimate performer, and changing the minds of many who didn't know about her abilities.

i think if the vma performance didn't exist she wouldn't have been as big and pry never even performed at the oscars.

vma's cause even if she didn't perform at the Oscars her image is already a lot cleaner than before and we'd still get AHS
