First Lana Del Reys Tropico video was ARTPOP, then Beyonces surprise album was the real ARTPOP and now Mileys new album is the real ARTPOP. Gaga seems to be very important for the industry.

But the question is: What is ARTPOP ? It never was the intention to be experimental, Gaga didn't knew what ARTPOP was (; It was a journey and i hope that Gaga learned in this phase something.

Btw: Gaga don't need an "Billboard Top 10 indie band" to be experimental and psychedelic.   When the time comes she will be experimental as a musician and it will be  really hers

I honestly do compare DeadPetz and a Gaga album- I compare it to Born This Way.. 

 

Born This Way was much more polished yes- but it wasn't all that commercial- it was an album full of self love and creative vomit. And if anything I think DeadPetz should be respected because it was all creative outpouring by Miley. I know Miley had to have been extremely stoned and under the influence to write those songs, ESPECIALLY Pablow the Blowfish! omg... lol.. but I applaud Miley for making a record thats not moulded in a label's image. For once I think we got an artists vision recorded. Gaga needs to be allowed to do the same... Interscope should just take one solid break from influence just once. I think Gaga can make something incredible and raw too. Not saying she hasnt yet, but I think she can really really make something special- even if it's not a commercial hit. Some of you will drag me for this because some of you just want number ones and charts but I want something memorable. 

ALSO- food for thought.. Bad Romance almost didn't make it on the record or album or radio because IT WAS TOO EXPERIMENTAL. Jimmy Iovine hated it.

I think Gaga's focus with ARTPOP was not only pushing for the work to be artistic in itself, but also as a way of making fine art POPular. She didn't do experimental "artsy" things for her videos, she was involved with art at the louvre, she worked with a well-known and established performance artist and a famous sculptor, she wore clothes depicting historical art pieces, and did her makeup to reflect painting. 

There are a lot of similarities between Gaga's goals for ARTPOP and Miley's goals for her current album, but I think they're also quite different. 

I do believe that Gaga really pushed for a movement towards ART being present in the POP world and other artists are definitely benefiting from that (and some are even repeating what she said word-for-word with "bringing art to the forefront" )

Honestly the new Miley album isn't good at all. I downloaded it and gave the songs a listen, and none have stuck to me. Not at all. I know she was trying to be experiential, but Doo It and the Karen song just don't sound good. And the video is just lazy too, I mean, she literally eats glitter and milk for four minutes. The DWUW video was better than that tbh  It may be music not the bling, but the music is just

you obviously haven't listened to all of it then. Cyrus Skies alone is hypnotic.
