While I do love One Direction and I am saddened a bit by the news,I'm honestly glad they're taking time away from each other. Five years is a long time,even though Backstreet Boys have been together 20+ years and they're still touring and making albums and whatnot (they're my #1 favorite boy band ever).

I'm glad for their own sake tbh

Seeing their work schedule, they are probably exhausted and need some time to recover and work on their own projects at their own rate.

So true! They have been touring and recording for the past few years, I am glad they get to take a well deserved break.

It's time they got a break and/or focused on their own solo careers for a bit.

I can already see Liam on The X Factor judging panel within the next year or two!

Harry has more potential for a solo succesfull carreer than zayn imo

Sony has already said that they are interested in signing him as a solo act and that there has been interest shown from Hollywood.

Except I feel like Liam or Harry will be the Bey of the group unless Zayn magically fixes his career sometime soon. 

Regardless if the article's true or not those boys probably need a break. Solo work won't hurt them
