Can somebody explain how this happened? Kworb predicted 67k and she did 248k? How is it even possible when she was #1 on iTunes for like 1 and a half day? Not that I don't like Lana or the song but what's happening?

she's officially pop now, her stans can't hide behind the whole "she's indie" facade anymore even though she hasn't been indie since before BTD technically

congrats I guess tho

You are pop if you make pop music, you don't become pop just by selling a few copies. She is still sadcore/indie, the difference is that she is popular because of that, not that she's making pop music.

All her fans are celebrating, but those numbers don't make any sense. A song that sold that much would have to have a much larger lead and not fall nearly that fast. I think someone did a wrong calculation.

she doesn't produce and distribute her own music & she's on a record label and she's charted within the top 40... she's pop

That's such a blind way of looking at things. Country stars have had songs on the top 40. RnB and Rap music has been on the top 40. Alternative/indie songs have been on the top 40. You can't just lump every single music genre into "pop" because it has a strong following or a strong week of sales. Stay pressed though that an indie artist is outselling some pop artists. You're not going to hear HBTB on the radio. She just has a strong enough fanbase to chart her songs.

I do too.. If you Control-F and search "High By The Beach" the worldwide total is 112k
