The Inspiration for Onion Girl

I recently found information about this novel from 2001 called "The Onion Girl". Wikipedia's summary:

*Jilly is struck by a car and becomes paralyzed on her right side. She discovers she can dream herself to the spirit world like her friend Sophie has long known how to do. Her physical body remains in the hospital bed while a dream version of herself, young and not paralyzed, traverses the spirit world.

It could be a reference to it, specially knowing that after the hip surgery Gaga had to spend some time like that.

However, I believe that Onion Girl hints were given before her surgery (through tweets with Zedd if I remember correctly)

So, coincidende? Is it a reference to past hospital expierences? What do you think?

I feel like this may be a coincidence. The tweets with Zedd had more of the "@ss like an onion" slang/metaphor going on.

That's probably not it, but what a cool concept. Often the inspiration for songs are less ingenious than we think. One of my favorite songs ever (by a different artist) was supposedly inspired by a pet lab rat she had.
