This thread only refers to the lead single, not the entire album.

By surprise release, I don't mean that there is no promotion taking place, I mean that the song will be dropped in a sudden before the promotion takes place afterwards. Gaga will come out of nowhere and make tons of public appearance after the release, provided that Bobby and Gaga's team had pre-planned tons of promotion platforms for the single.

Early hype is that kind of promotion which Nicki used on Anaconda, Jessie J on Bang Bang and Justin Bieber on What Do U Mean. This type of promotion will generate a lot of publicity and anticipation before the song even drops. However, its benefits might as well not be as substantial as a surprise release's.

Surprise would be the best, but I just don't want everyone calling her "reductive" because Beyonce did it.

Is this question even relevant when it comes to Gaga aka The Hype Monster? :laughga:

Ideally we'd have none of those, but surprise release is somehow better than early hype.

A surprise release would get ppl saying she copied Beyoncé, so let's avoid that. Creating too much hype would get a lot of ppl against the song, so let's not go for that as well...

Just announce on twitter that "a surprise is coming in 5 days"... not making a fuss about it in order not to create  a lot of pressure on herself...point being: she should do what she has been doing since the beginning of this year: don't hype ppl up, just go there and wow them with your talent. Let your music do the talking.

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

surprise release, but have everything already lined up (promo, music video ready to go, radio deal, ect.) so that she can have prolonged success after the initial hype

In this current point in time, I think surprise would work out great for her. The GP currently loves her and it would literally be completely by surprise because we know nothing about the single or album, so the release would generate even more interest because it was the first official info/ thing heard about/ from the album.

Surprise releases are just so messy plus I remember Gaga saying she doesn't like putting her music all in one shot because it's like a cum shot and you get bored quicker however I wouldn't want her to do what she did with ARTPOP and preview 3/4 of the album. I would be content with 2 singles before the album release. I feel like with a surprise release I would get so bored of the album quickly no matter how great it is.

This. That's one thing about Gaga that I love, I do enjoy the surprise releases of singles as no one is expecting them and it makes things so much more exciting to rush to a phone or computer to hear the song, BUT the fact that Gaga gets as excited as us to release music and really hype it up is one of the things I love most about being a little monster.
