SlayedForTheGod 665
why do you guys argue about this ****? what kind of music you or him find good is subjective. and one of the main reasons he wont get as much recognition to begin with is because of his genre. thats just the way it works. Robotboy 1,700
why is this a hot topic? why do we care about a metalheads opinion on pop music? yes the majority is cheap and plastic but it has always been atleast these songs have melodies and its not just noise Remember that you are unique. Prometheus 1,494
I want to see him sit down and learn how to produce music with FL Studio. Good music. Music people will actually listen to. Until then, he can **** right off with his pretentious attitude. Rock artists hating pop music? Revolutionary.

SlaeUrAnus 15,970
He's like one of those kids that comment under Avril Lavinge's early 2000 videos and say "Why wasn't I born in this decade???" OMFG In my messy era.
SlaeUrAnus 15,970
But seriously, if he does not like it, do not listen to it. There are artists who have autotune e.g. Kesha and Britney, but some do not need it e.g. Gaga and Adele. Rock fans slating pop is nothing new, but we do not see pop fans slating rock In my messy era. Radio Ga Ga 5,671
I don't really see the problem with having a bunch of people writing a song and then have another singer sing it. The product is the same, in fact probably better than if only one person worked on it, it's sorta like division of labor. Some people are good at writing songs, some are good at singing, some are good at promoting a certain image, do one person really have to be ALL of these to be a part of the music making process? And I don't get the hate about auto-tuning either. If it sounds better than a real voice, who cares if it's computer made? Computer is like a new instrument, and it's pretty damn awesome, so what's with all the hating? And it's not true that anyone can sound good with auto-tuning. You can criticize Britney or Katy for being terrible live in terms of vocals, but their sounds in the studio are pretty unique and good sounding. In fact, most singers don't have voices as catchy as theirs when they are auto-tuned

ARTPOPchamp 292
Rockism, but if you really hate pop, you're not forced to listen to it. The internet has a lot of music content, and every person is free to explore it. Listen to what you like. But they don't explore it, that's the point. So many listen to what's popular in media, etc. So many hipsters and kids are dominated by what's popular in media and what media claims "everyone is listening to" or the singer "everyone loves", it's like what's going on with Taylor Swift right now, media acts like she's a chosen one and everyone loves her, but we don't. Popular culture fails to mention other styles of music that aren't selling millions, or claimed to be selling millions. It's a great point Corey makes, this is why I feel like someone like Gaga who has such a following should continue to make other styles of music than just pop or just music that has mass market appeal. In fact, most singers don't have voices as catchy as theirs when they are auto-tunedThe product is most definitely NOT the same. A real artist can do it all - write, perform, sing live, require no autotune. And autotune makes people think a person has talent when they really don't. A computer IS NOT an instrument. You are so mistaken and uninformed and illusioned by what passes as music today. Britney and Katy are "unique". Wow, so very mistaken. You think autotune makes music catchy? No dear. The main point Corey was making is that pop music is so tweaked to fit a standard and people like you think that it's the only standard, that there is no place for anything else other than what is popular. The main point Corey was making is that pop music is so tweaked to fit a standard and people like you think that it's the only standard, that there is no place for anything else other than what is popular. We are at a time when more music is made by a group of artists instead of just one. I don't know where you got the definition of "artist" that says they need to able to write, perform, sing live, and require no autotune, go find a dictionary. A songwriter is an artist, a performer is an artist, a singer is an artist, and a singer with the skill the sound good with autotune is also an artist (again, Katy and Britney, especially Britney, have signature sounds. I hate to say this, but Baby One More Time or Teenage Dream would not sound as good if it's Lady Gaga that's singing it in her jazz voice) A computer is definitely an instrument. If it is capable of producing musical sounds, it is an instrument. It's just so versatile that it make you think it's not. And don't tell me that it's cheap to use computers to make music. Do you know how much effort it requires to produce a decent track?I never said popularity is the only standard. Art/music is subjective, therefore there's no objective way you can measure it. The reason why it's popular is because people like it. If everyone loved Corey's music, there's nothing stopping him from becoming super popular. Iwontell 7,312
Well, he's not entirely wrong, but let's not generalize things...there are some very talented ppl making pop music today...ppl who could be doing it in any other scenario, without PCs, autotune, writing teams, etc...Gaga, Beyoncé, Pink, etc. ... ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.
