He's like one of those kids that comment under Avril Lavinge's early 2000Ā videos and say "Why wasn't I born in this decade???"

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^this.

No matter how much of a point he has, it's SO boring to listen to rockers/rock fans s*it on pop music when they only know of the most basic and over played songs :toofunny:Ā

Pop music is life :legend:Ā

You're stinky

The irony that the ad I got before this video played was this video of some teen girls singing Shake It Off :rip:

He's right in some of the things he says. But there is good pop music out there.Ā

Slipknot isĀ insulting though, never liked their music.Ā

He's completely right (with some artists) but he's only saying this now? :laughga:

But tbh, I don't ever seeĀ this changingĀ anytime soon. People would have to start caringĀ about who wrote what and who's more talented but they just don't.

Ew. It's not like vomiting your saliva, I mean rapping on whatever the ~so edgy genre~ they sing is better than Pop music. NEVER FORGET Gaga is pap miusik, so b---h shut up.

But in general, pop music has declined a lot, so he gotta point :neyde:

Well.. pop music is an art form in itself. Modern pop music has become all about a sleek andĀ perfect sound,Ā more electronic than human. But that doesn't discredit it. Pop music isĀ the art form of creating a universal song from a universal emotion.Ā I used to think songs written by teams of songwriters were disingenuousĀ but there's an art to writing a perfect pop song. There's a pop vocabulary, a formula for everything, "go to" chords for certain reactions, rules regarding theĀ tempo..etc.

Just because music isn't coming from the singer alone isn't enough to discredit it. I love aĀ catchy pop song that follows the formulas here and there. They're formulas for a reason. They work and Auto-Tune is just another way to gloss over and perfect the song. Now if the artist can't actually sing, they have no business being a singer. But I have no problem with real singersĀ usingĀ Auto-Tune.Ā I see his point that it seems more fake and lifeless but it's just a different art form than what he does. Pop songs written by a team of hit-makers don't serve the same purposeĀ as Slipknot because they're meant to appeal to everyone and they do.Ā Plus, it's not like the producers and songwriters don't dedicate their lives to music as much as he does.Ā It's just a different kind of music.Ā

He's being pretentious and screaming out for authenticity, but people like what they like. A normal singer-songwriter isn't asĀ interesting a persona asĀ Miley's or Britney's, or even Taylor's.Ā Ā Most pop stars careers are highly calculated anywayĀ so why does he expect any different from the music?

well rock music makes me feel like im being stung by a thousand bees

Subjectivity is a thing, what's his point?

Pop music can be good and bad, same with a lot of genres. He sounds pretentious. "I don't listen to Pop so i'm better than you".

He is right about the pop music that plays on the radio. It's almost lifeless and 99% autotuned vocals. But in this age where almost everyone has internet it's always your choiceĀ to listen to that. You can find thousands of musicians on internet for free.Ā

Also I don't think he should be so harsh on these artists considering that his music is not really that good either.Ā

but but but but

Ā

his music is also trashĀ :noparty:

the product of their sound is an aesthetic choice, not a flaw in their musicianship though. you can't program a computer to sound like punk or metal.Ā

knowing the formula to what makes a good pop song isn't a talent, its called easy music. its quick, cheap, easy music. that's why its so formulaic, talented people 80 or so years ago figured out a new way to evoke emotion that relates to people and then it became the standard for a century of music, which isĀ literallyĀ a blip in time for humans. it's not a skill set anymore to be able to conquer that writing method, its just easy and cheap.Ā Ā
